    17/4/08 Ryley Brett 10lbs 13oz! :D

    heeeelllooo everybody!

I thought I would stop by here and make an officail birth announcement now I am home from hossy and recovering well... for the birth of...

RYLEY BRETT GILCHRISThe is our 2nd child a younger brother for Lillian Faith (3 y.o).

He was born at 1.54pm 17, April 2008. weighing 4.9kg's, (10 l bs 13 oz or 4925gms), his length was 56 cm's and a huge head circumference of 40 cm! He was born at 39 weeks and 4 days gestation via elective C section due to scans indicating he was going to be too big for vaginal birth.

I was very afraid of the surgery as I have had a previous c section with my 1st (10 lbs 2oz), The surgical team were terrific and did everything they could to make me feel comfortable this time, last time it was different staff and they were very rude and abrupt with me during my procedure. The anethesist was great this time, the spinal worked right away he had an epidural in ready to use incase the spinal didnt work but no need to, last time I had to have a needle in my back 3 or 4 times it was quiet horrible cause it wasnt working. He also gave me anti-nausea medication through my IV drip cause I was going to throw up and it worked instantly, and also he gave me blood pressure medication to bring my blood pressure back up a little cause I was passing out just before my son was going to be born, then I started having heart palpataions and going unconscious, I was so scared had no idea who I was or what was going on, then he had to give me a shot of adrenalin to keep me conscious which worked I was good after that. After that period during the surgery I was fine, I heard the OB doing the operation groan and grunt pulling him out hehe, almost threw me off the table in the process, then he said "Now theres no way he would of been able to pass through the birth canal, I guess about 5 kilos" well he almost made 5 kilos!!! hubby brought him over to me, I soon forgot about everything that was going on, my little boy was trying to suck on my nose! hehe, he was so chubby so perfect, so beatiful, he looks a little like his sister, exactly like his daddy and has my dark olive skin, he's a handsome little man!

Went back to maternity after recovery, they gave me morphine endome, panadeine forte hehe they kept me well dosed up for the 1st 2 days which was brilliant cause I didnt get any pain releif after with my 1st! the pain killers made it so much easier to get up and about. My catheter had fell out 5 hours after the operation so did the Iv drip dont ask me how!! But the midwives decided to let me loose to walk from then on cause I was drinking enough fluids and all and i really didnt want the catheter back in. so 5 hrs post op - here I was tough little cookie up and walking to the loo and back to bed, the next day i was even doing it unassisted!

I went home on the 4th day, and ended up back in hospital that night again cause when i got home I felt nauseated temperatures and vomiting they thought i may have had a uterine infection from the op so I got sent for ultrasounds to make sure i had no big bleeds or anything wasnt left behind to cause infection, seemed ok, they did a blood test and my blood count was still pretty low from the loss of blood during the op which can apparently make you feel quiet unwell until your blood re-makes itself. They put me on Iv that extra night for antibiotics, I felt much better the next day and took my little boy home for good.

Now I am home Ryley is feeding well - very very well he is so hungry, my poor boobies! hehe they are feeling it. and Lillian just loves him to pieces, me and hubby are drained to the eyeballs from no sleep hehe he seems to sleep more during the day the little bugger! But we are all comping and all happy to have our little boy home! Wow what a day the 17th of April was! HUGE, and very exhausting! but one of the happiest days of my life, brought back memories from my 1st little princess 3 years ago.

Our family is now happy and complete with mummy daddy, Lilly, and Ryley we all coulndt possibly be any happier
