Dear Mummy and Daddy;
It's been a very long journey to meet you. You've been trying to meet me for over four years, ever since you first thought it would be a good idea to start our family. You and Daddy thought it would be easy - but unfortunately fertility issues got in the way. After a number of investigations, you both found out that IVF/PGD was the only way in which you would get to meet me.
So Mummy started sniffing Synarel, having wonderful Gonal F injections, and Daddy had a meeting with a small jar.
Ultimately, Mummy had 15 eggies collected, all of which fertilised, but only one was genetically perfect....
and that one little embie became ME!
I arrived five days early, with the help of an epidural, episiotomy and forceps (Mummy, it was lovely in there, but I like rotating in the wrong way during labour, I'm very sorry...)
And my name is LUKE MICHAEL RICHARD...
I'm named for two very special men, my paternal grandfather Richard, who passed away when my Daddy was 18, and my maternal grandfather Michael, who raised my Mummy (and her brother and sister) on his own from when they were very young. I'm so proud to carry the names of two wonderful men.
I love you very much Mummy and Daddy, and I'm very happy to be your son.
Love always,
Luke.
