24 January 2008 - Alessandro is born!

Wow, still in awe over my beautiful little man! Who made sort of a speedy arrival after being 5 days late!
A week before he was born I had a full night of false labour. Very disappointing!
Then exactly a week later, at midnight, contractions started again, but just wouldn;t become regular.
At 10 the midwife arrived ( I am Dutch and had a home birth), she noticed I was only 2cm dilated. She did a stretch and sweep.
After she left, pretty soon the contractions became unbearable! I had them in my tummy and back at the same time. Didn't know how to deal with them anymore.
Couldnt even go to a hospital if I wanted to, because I couldn't keep still during the contractions.
After 3 hours I called the midwife again and it turned out I was now 6 cm already. I went to the toilet and man what a relieve! It took the pressure of my back, so no more contractions there!
Within an hour I was ready to push. 15 minutes later, Alessandro (Sander) Jayden Johan was born. 51cm and 3490 grams.
I only needed 2 stitches (pretty good after only a few pushes).
So the actuall birth only took 6 hours and 15 minutes, pretty good for a first!

Now, he's one month old and I cant believe how quickly it has all gone! I wish I was still in the first week, as I was so high on hormones, its all a bit of a blur to me and it is such a special time.
