Thumbs up Dexter Jay has arrived 7 weeks early..

    hi everyone..

    I am excited to announce...
DEXTER JAY has entered the world 7 weeks early..
sunday just gone the 3rd.. i woke up at 7.30 and got up and my water broke.. i thought i had peed myself as i have never had water break with other pg. i woke my partner and said my water just broke.. so casually he just thought i was joking.
i had a shower and got stuff organised as i thought i had heaps of time.

we got to the hospital about 8am and they put me in the labour room and put a monitor on me.. by 8.10 i started getting contractions.. i thought "what am i really going to have him?? noooo it is way toooo sooon. " the contractions started to get stronger.. and within 20 min i wanted to push.. the nurse freaked.. went to check how dialated i was and said "oh my god his head is there !!" i had a couple of contractions with pushing and his head was out.. then another and his little body came out..
    3o min labour in total..

he was born 4lb 5 oz (1960g) and a huge 46cm long.. he is soooo tiny..
they took him straight to scbu and i had a shower and just walked over to him. (hospital is in the middle of extending.. so the walk from maternity to scbu is like 5-6 min.. sigh.. was annoying..
As i had no tearing or cuts i felt amazing..
they put dexter straight in the machines.. he was breathing on his own but they gave him oxygen for the first 24 hours just as a precauction..
the last 4 days has been so emotional and surreal.. the fact that i cant just hold him when i want or feed him is so hard .. i sometimes look at him and just think.."is he really mine.. did this really happen?"
as i will be breastfeeding i have had the fun job of expressing .. thank goodness for the machines up the hospital..

he is the most beautiful baby.. (i am biased) and the nurses say he is a dream to take care of..
at the moment they have him on the uv light but everything else is fine.. his bloods/ oxygen etc all good..

this is going to be a long journey for bub and us.. but the nurses are amazing and i am glad that nambour has such a good scbu ..
I am so thankful for my partner.. it is his first child.. and he is over the moon but he is so caring and attentive.. i would be lost without him..

    luv to all
    jo

    Oh Jo!!!!!

Congratulations, sweetie!!! (And there we were in our belly buddies thread, worrying over the other jo going early!!! )

That is wonderful news that he is doing so well! Hopefully he will be in your arms very soon if he continues this way.

Wow, on the speed of the delivery - no wonder you are feeling freaked out that he is actually here.

Thanks for letting us know, and congratulations once again!
