Thankyou everyone on your congratulations and well wishes.
I had a very fast (unintentionally so) induction. One lot of gel mid morning had me in very active labour by 5pm but silly me didn't realise it, nor did the staff when I went for monitoring at this time. I didn't know you could get all your pain in the thighs and very low pelvis, absolutely none in my back or abdomen! Does explain why panadeine forte, hot packs and the shower didn't work to stop the "strong menstraul like cramps." Next thing you know, my waters broke in the shower, all the pain turned to pressure in my pelvis, the midwife came in thinking (like we all did) i was still in early labour offering morphine. DP saying I think she is passed that and needs something stronger. During this conversation my next contraction hits and i start groaning/screaming and the midwife did the quickest sprint of his life to get a wheelchair. next thing you know i am being rushed wrapped in towels through the ward into a delivery room (it's amazing how you don't care about dignity at the time!) Where, high on gas, and my body doing it completely instinctively (can someone tell me ho you stop your body pushing? i tried breathing through them under midwifes instructions but couldn't do it) I delivered my Katie about 15 minutes after hitting the bed. I still can't believe I actually did it, i never thought i would have the strength or willpower to do labour relatively drug free (if you don't count panadeine forte or gas!

). I'm rather proud of myself even if it did traumatise DP a bit. i did however have to go to theatre after to repair a third degree tear and removal of retained products as the membranes were ragged and some where left behind, so I also had a pph.
I thoroughly reccomend my hospital. they just did delayed cord clamping, asked if i wanted the injection to make the placenta come, and insisted on skin to skin for at least one hour post birth, apparantly katie was not being removed until after this time and a breastfeed. It was great.
Sorry for the rambling an the brackets but I am still on a bit of a high.
