Well you just wait. Women who have already had a baby are often dilated a little bit before labour.
Hi all!
So things were pretty much on the way (or so we thought) on tuesday with regular contractions, sent home from the hospital at 2pm after an hour as labour not progressing enough, only for things to get more intense through the evening and at 8:30pm went back in, was examined later in the evening and found to be 1cm dilated!! WOOHOO!! seriously i was so excited! going for a VBAC to be even 5mm dilated i would have seen stoked! But at about 1am things started to die down and fizzle out!! as im only 36 and a bit wks and a VBAC'er they wouldnt give me anything to "get things moving". so by 11am i was being discharged
and told to rest, it could be hours, days or weeks before things get going again!!!! (note my water were still intacted, oh and they said his head wasnt engaged still).
SOOO my question to you all is How can i get this baby's head engaged and get me more dilated!!
Thanks Krissy

I would try to relax
Your body and baby isnt ready yet and thats why its stopping your labour. you can be 1cm dilated for somw time before labour.
dont be discouraged, things are def going how they are ment too![]()
You wait! I was a few cm's dialated with my DS at about 37wks. I was in pre labour for about 2 weeks. On the positive side when I did eventually go to hospital, at 41wks, I was 8cm dialated and DS was born an hour later!
But there are things that are said to bring on labour or ripen your cervix for birth, like light exercise (such as walking), sex, evening primrose oil, raspberry leaf tea/tablets, massage, accupuncture....
Good luck!!
Wait, and wait and wait.. Best thing to do. I think the big reason why Inductions can end badly is because the mothers body hasnt been given adequate time to prepare, and thats what it does in the days and few weeks before the onset of labour. If your body isnt ready then you may not get your vbac trying to rush it. Relax, feet up and ride the wave. Let it do what its got to do!
Hoping to read your beautiful VBAC story some day soon on the forum. Good Luck!
I was 2cm dilated from 33wks, sorry hun there is not much you can do but wait.
Regards,
Dianne
Best of luck!
Hang in there!! Don't rush, bub will come when its ready. I really regret not being informed enough and allowing myself to be induced after days of perfectly normal pre-labour and 1cm dialated (not that I knew it was normal) as it produced a real cascade of intervention that have caused me ongoing issues 'down there..'
Wishing you heaps of luck for a great delivery.

I am afraid all you can do is wait. And next time you get contractions, stay at home until you can no longer talk! This will ensure that they don't stop when you get to hospital (a change on environment can stop labour). Be patient with your body
All the best and keep us updated
