Red face After a stretch and sweep how long till u went into labour?

    Hidy ho bellyrinos

Ok so i know its been asked before, but we have a few new members now, so i thought i shall ask again.

So im 39 weeks 2 days today, and was offered an internal to see how i am progressing, and also a stretch and sweep, if the conditions were right, of course i happily accepted

As soon as the lovely dr went in, i knew my cervix must have been soft as her hand slid in nicely, and it wasnt at all uncomfortable, she said she gave it a good sweep, and i was already 1cm, and she moved me to 1.5cm.

Ive had a bit of day one af type bleeding, mostly when i wipe, not alot on the pad, i know thats from the cervix being played with, and its getting lighter as the day goes on, so not at all worried.

I also know u can be 1cm for weeks with nothing happening and since this is baby number 6, i could have been at 1cm for ages.

I also know that not all stretch and sweeps work, just keeping my fingers crossed that this one does

Ive had a few cramps, and a braxton, i feel quite relaxed, but at this stage besides feeling like af is on her way, im still playing the labour waiting game.

So to the big questions, how long after a stretch and sweep did you go into labour, how many cm dialted were you when u had it done? Did you bleed and how long for?

    Thanks in advance

I went into pre-labour that night.... but not much happened apart from pains & a bit of contractions. I was like only 1 or 2cms and I don't remember bleeding

    Thanks RhiChiChi and Junglemum

I also wanted to ask as well, what people did after there s&s, that may or may not have helped labour start straight away, or days later, like walking around, or lying down etc??

Thanks so much for the reply

So far no real braxtons, ive had the odd one, and had a few odd cramps since i had it at 11am today, but nothing since.
Was hoping she could stretch me further, but either i wasnt ready or she didnt want to, i dont know.

Bubs head was a little bit engaged, she didnt say how far, just said a little bit.

Still having very very light bleeding, but only when i wipe, however i did notice something floating in the toliet bowl, so i did what any sane person would do, i fished it out lol
It was blood red, and looked more fleshy like, than mucus plug, so im not quite sure what it was, maybe a clot, but was kinda different lol

Baby is still moving nicely too.

The S & S didn't work for me. I was 10days over and already 2cm and it still didn't work. I bled a little, enough to have to put a liner on.
I have a very stubborn cervix
I did all things like walk and be active, rock on a fit ball.

GL, I hope it get's things started for you soon!

    Thanks Heather72

Well i lost half my plug with bloody show at 6.30pm last night, and the remainder at 8.15am today, but alas no braxtons or contractions, or any sign that labour will happen, and bubs is still extreamly active.

But i feel good, and calm, and as long as the other kids play nice, relaxed lol

Well I had the S&S at 40+10 and had the bub the next day. That night I couldn't move as it really hurt my hips, I suspect that contrax started around 8am the next morning (had it at 3pm) but I didn't really think they were contrax until my waters broke that night, about 2 hours before Quoll was born.

    Good luck

I think it was about 11 hours (although, I don't remember what time my appointment was exactly... I think 11 am) & my waters broke & I hit labour head-on. I had a few firm contractions afterwards, but then nothing until midnight...

I had mine at 40w + 2 days, I was 4cm dilated & my waters were already bulging.

Had s&s around midday, felt crampy about 1/2hr later, contractions started around 9Pm random, regular from midnight, wasdue to be induced at 6am (40+9), slowed right down to random as we left for the hosp at 545, completely stopped by 9, started again midday just before waters were broken, DD born 301pm.

DS - s&s 39+6 (day before due date). No reaction. He was born 41 weeks, spontaneous waters breaking/labour began immediately 1am, he was born 7:57am.
