He is probably talking about step b which is common, it's just a bacteria found in the vagina which sometimes overgrows more for some women - the antibiotics will help that. It's just so the infection wont be passed to the baby. You definitely do not need to be induced for this, that is ridiculous - it's a good idea to ask him why he thinks you need to be induced. If everything else is normal then that is a terrible excuse to induce you. Induction carries effects on the labour, you and your baby - no-one should be subjected to this as routine.
