Hi *noni*e*.
I dont have any answers for you but just wanted to say good luck try not to be too nervous, soon you'll have your precious little girl in your arms![]()
hi all well as the title would suggest i am booked in for an induction on wednesday... ive heard all the wives tales about how to induce labour naturally and i am not sure if i will try them or not lol idk i feel pretty weird about the whole thing...
thing is my hospital said they dnt break ur waters and wait they break your waters and put the drip straight in.. is that standard procedure?? i always thought they broke ur waters and gave u some time for something to happen then if nothing in went the drip?? apparantly i dnt need the gels because i am completely efaced and almost 2cm dilated at the moment but still i thought they gave u that chance??? should i be asking for it?
how likely is it that i will go into labour before wednesday considering the cervix is looking favourable? i am pretty sure she gave me a sweep (said something about just stretching the muscle and it was quite uncomfortable/painful)i suppose its not favourable enough to really show anything lol i am just kidding myself haha
oh well i am kinda rambling on i suppose because i am nervous about everything

Thats their policy, but only because they want to get it over with and it will be likely you will have an epidural with that.
I had a client whose waters were broken last week, she was 2-3cms dilated when she did it. Baby born at 2pm, she kept upright and active and we did some good massage and walking to help her along.
You see you can't leave it up to them to decide for you or they will do whatever is quickest and easiest. But you are well within your right to say 'no thanks, I just want my waters broken for now, and I want to be given some time for labour to establish on it's own.'
Given that you are already 2cms and everyone is happy and healthy, I would be saying no to the drip. You will get lots of pressure for it, so you need to be strong. Get your parnter to say it if you don't feel comfortable. But can be the difference between an epidural and further intervention or not.

Good luck
For what it's worth, my waters weren't broken nor were there talks about doing so. The drip was placed and not long after I broke my hind waters. My fore waters had already been leaking on and off for 12 hours before I was induced. Hope that helps.
You should be given choices!? I was a private patient in a private hospital and was given three choices by the OBS on duty when I was 9 days overdue. FYI my three choices were - go home and continue to pre-labour until my appointment at the OBS the next afternoon, ARM & drip or c-sect. (I chose ARM & the drip)
I only had my waters broken with my 3 week old. Kept walking around until the contractions kicked in (I think it took about an hour to establish labour and she was born 3 hours later which is pretty fast). They tried to tell me I would have to have the drip but I told them to forget it and threatened to leave!! It's your body and your baby - tell them what you want and be firm, they can't do anything to you you don't want. I have had the whole induction with the drip before and I found it pretty nasty so there was no way I was going to let them do it again!!
Good Luck!!

Good luck i hope you have a safe and wonderful delivery today Noni*e*
good luck Noni - no point in me saying that i was induced, never had the drip, and didnt have an epi.
thought id come in here and say that i beat the induction waters broke at 9am the night before hehe what a well behaved baby!!!
Congrats Noni*e*!!!
Congratulations!!! I reckon there needs to be a new term, since women are inappropriately labelled 'failure to progress' making them feel like a failure and that their bodies don't work, I think some doctors need the term, 'failure to wait.' Clearly nature knew best![]()
Enjoy your babymoon!!!!
