    Birthing dream

When I was pregnant with DD, I would have these dreams that I gave birth and she was perfect and we got to keep her with us and go home.
I'd wake up sobbing because I knew that wasn't true. I only saw her for a few minutes before she was taken away.

With this bub, I'm having dreams that fill me with so much peace. I get my VBAC. But, I ALWAYS give birth outside. In the sunlight and open air. It's a beautiful experience. A few times it's been my childhood home backyard, or a few special places to DH and I.
It's just occuring to me now, but it's always somewhere where I feel safe.

I love the fact that I birth outside. Being a July bub it won't happen. Being rural I have to be in a hospital.

    Thoughts??

    wow, what beautiful pregnancy dreams!

it sounds like your heart is letting you know what you need to feel safe and secure to open up and give birth.

regardless of what services are on offer, in a perfect world, what would be the ideal environment for your dream birth? maybe start drawing about it, or writing those things down? who is there with you? how are you moving, and sounding, and breathing? how are they treating you?

remember to visualise a lovely third stage and safe arrival of the placenta too!

and then see what is on offer from maternity services that fits best with your vision.

if you have to be in a hospital, that does not necessarily mean you have to labour there - you could labour at home and rock up 'fully and pushing'. Are there any doulas around?

another alternative is a home VBAC with an independent midwife.

outside births are lovely! But yes - probably not in July eh?

I've had birth dreams where I'm outside, kneeling on grass. It's lovely. I find it grounding. Like you, I'm hoping for a better outcome next time. Dreams like that give me hope.

In Hypnobabies, you're taught to visualise a safe, special place with your baby. It helps with relaxation during pregnancy and birth. It sounds like you've found your special place. Practice going there consciously. Then use that during birth. You can be wherever you want to be in your head no matter where you are in body.
