Question Birthing (pos cs) with Henna body paint... Contraindications?

    Hey ladies!
Need some wisdom on a bizarre question!

I am in the process of working out a little Blessingway for myself - will just be me and DH.
Anyway, will be getting some Henna belly and body art done, and was thinking since it lasts for about 10 days, would love to get it done right before I will be having bubs.
Because I am going for a VBAC, I have a max of 9 days I am 'allowed' to go over before they will send me for a c/s (no inductions).

So, planning wise, could be doable.

The question is: is there any contraindications to birthing with the henna on?
Is it going to cause a problem if I need to go to theatre either after failing VBAC or for the repeat cs? Is it like nail polish or metal based or anything like that?

There is so little I can do to make this birth the way I want it being I have to birth in a hospital, have to have an ob etc, that I would really like to try and make my own space by having it on my body already, but don't want it to turn into some big deal if I need to have a cs...

Will it interfere with the monitors I have to have etc...

So yes, odd question, but I would hate to have it all done and feel ace then have to take it off for the birth...

    Ta!

I'm not sure hun, might b best to call and talk to your middies about it and see what they say? I can't see any problems though, seeing as it is essenitally staining the skin, and by the time you are overdue(which fingers crossed you won't be and will have bub in your arms without worrying about a cs ) but JIK I would think that at that point it would be ok. Then again I'm a teacher not a doctor!

Good luck though hun and that sounds like a gorgeous thing to do to get you in the right head space and to prepare for your VBAC xoxo

Just make sure you get the natural red/brown stuff as some of the black ones have nasty chemicals added.

Henna is a plant based dye - I've been using it on my hair for years.

It's literally just cushed leaf from the plant.

It only stains the skin/hair/nails...so it won't pose any risk.

It doesn't easily wash off once stained, so even if you have a cs, it'll still be there. They won't be able to scrub it off.
