    Question C-section question!

I'm not to sure if this is in the right place..

I had a c-sec 5 weeks ago and sorry for TMI in advance!
After my c-sec i bleed for one day pretty heavy then was very light for 2 weeks then went away for a day came back a little bit heavier and went for a day and now today i have had to change my pad every 30-60 mins and when i shower the blood is practicly pouring out and is bright red! Is this normal this long after a c-sec and i have slight tummy cramps... just want to know if this is normal before i freak out and call the doctors..

I really don't know and I dont want to worry you but I want to be really honest and say the first thing I thought of was retained placenta as your message reminded me of a friend who recently experienced bleeding in a similar pattern, heavy for a day or two, then light for a few weeks, then bleeding heavily - having said that she was passing clots and didn't have a c-section, but an instrumental (forceps and ventouse) birth so there could be no correlation at all!! If I were you, I would see a doctor because there has been a significant change in the bleeding - it may be completely normal but no harm in some reassurance! I'm sure some other ladies with much more experience will be in shortly to help you!

I would call the Dr - I think they said to me if it was bright red and a lot of it to call the hossy, it doesn't hurt to get checked up. Hope everything is ok

I think you should contact a health professional.
Over the first week or so your loss should be simular to a heavy period, over the next few weeks it should decrease.
Increasing could really be a not normal thing.
sorry if i scared you...but better safe than sorry.

hey hun, I would be ringing the post natal clinic ASAP on that one, changing your pad every 30-60 mins is not a good sign, not to alarm you or anything, but please do get it checked out, sooner rather than later x

It is possible it's a period, but even so that is a very very heavy period. I would definitely be contacting your doctor

    Hey there

i had something simular to that but i didnt need to change my pad every 30-60mins. I ended up ringing the midwife as the hossy and she said as long as you dont need to change your pad every hour its ok...So i would definately go see the doctor for peace of mind if anything

Try not to worry too much, but contact your doctor. When I left hospital I was told that I shouldn't have any fresh bright red after 2 weeks.

I would call the Drs. It could be perfectly normal but I nevrr had bleeding like that after my 3 c/s. I had 2-3 heavy days right after then just light spotting like you get at the end of your Af.. Then every now and then when i was bf bub i would get a little gush but I have heard thats to do with hormones but was most definetly gone by 2-3 weeks (the heavy bit) I spotted on and off for longer..

So I would really see a Dr to get checked out
