Thumbs up Thanks for all your support

Firstly i want to say a huge thank you to all of you for coming in here and supporting me through this rough time i have had!

Secondly i have a major WOOHOO!!!! After a lot of debating and being told to find another hospital by the head surgeon, i saw the Senior Medical Officer at my last visit and this doc was great! He thought i wanted to book a 3rd c-sec and when i said NO, he sat back down and said so you want to go TOC then! I said yep, he ran throught the risks, saying in recent studies (not sure where these studies were held)1 in 50 will end up with a small tear of their scar and needs no attention and will heal by itself. 1 in 100 will go onto severe tearing and excessive bleeding and need emergancy surgery! He said that the study isnt completely accurate as when the study was done they were using the synto(sp?) drip to induce labour and that that causes lots of probs as it is an artificial hormone that overstimulates the uterus!Which he said they will not even consider using! As long as once labour starts it continues to progress i hav no dramas, and he said looking at my history of births there is no worries there! So he said really my chances of a successful VBA2C are much higher than that! So after going through all this with me he has put me back in low risk category and said good luck with your VB and you can go back to seeing MW from now on!!!! WOOHOO WOOHOO

I would like to say a massive thank you to Alan who wsa willing to come to me and help me through a homebirth on such short notice! It means a lot to me that you were so thoughtful of me even though you don't know me! So thanks heaps Alan
To be honest i think DH is relieved that things have worked out the way they have as he was petrified of a homebirth (in case something did go wrong) mind you he didn't tell me this until after we got things sorted at the hospital, which is lovely that he was being so supportive even though he wasn't keen himself!

Anyway a huge thanks to you all for all the info and support i truly appreciate it

    Hi Katstribe
That is great news. I am so happy for you. A VBAC is quite safe in fact I have a woman who is due to give birth at home in about 2 weeks. This her 2nd baby and a VBAC. I would obviousy not consider doing a homebirth if I thought that it was not safe to do so.
If you have any questions I am here for you.
    Good luck hun.

Thanks Alan you have been a treasure!

I said the same to DH, he said he would go with it if that was our only choice but he reckons he would be sweating on it!

Now i am just trying to find as many stories as possible on successful vba2c's as i can to reboost my confidence. Its stupid really before that doc gave me such a hard time i was full of confidence and figured my body coped with no worries after one c-sec and so therefore it would be fine again after two and considering they were 16yrs apart i should be ok. But he has manged to ruffle a few feathers so now its time to boost again. If you have any tips on things i can maybe do to increase my chances of success please feel free to post away!

Katscribe, I just found this thread but I just wanted to say I'm so happy for you!!!

I don't mean to hijack your thread but reading through this I just think it's sooo sad that Birthing in Australia has come to this! That you need to come on the internet to try to find information and the truth about what is safe and right for you and your baby! That you can't always get that information from your antental caregivers and just think you were strong enough to stand up for yourself and really fight but how many women aren't or they trust that their obs as doctors must be right!

    Good luck with everything hun!

Jas thanks and dont apoligise for hijacking, i hope all women in this predicament find this thread and learn to believe in themselves!

It is disgusting what we have to resort to to get the truth though. All this should be laid on the table straight up so that we as women can mak informed decisions.
I was jsut talking to a lady yesterday who got talked into having a second c-sec when she really wanted to go trial of scar! Poor darl she had a very traumatic experience with her first c-sec too.

Thanks for the well wishes also. I shall be sure to come back in here after bubs is born to let everyone know how we went. Hopefully this will help other women down the track. I know plenty of women out there still think that after 1 c-sec that they have to keep having c-secs. SO lets hope this can give them some faith!

    Cheers
    Kat

Yea I agree it is very annoying, ans if she has only had one c/s but her hospital is making her have another and yet your hospital would have let her try at least as she has only had one! How are there so many different ideas on what is "right" and safe in the one country! And it so comes down to opinion - one ob tells you that its hospital policy and you can have a c/s or leave and then the midwives you first saw were fine with it and then finally you get someone again who is fine with it!!! Even in the same hospital the ideas on what they will or won't allow is different!

Kat please keep us informed how you're doing, got all fingers and toes crossed here for you. Hope you have a nice doula lined up to support you at home before you go in and to stay with you through thick and thin. I've seen some lovely VBACs, sending lots of lovely VBAC vibes your way. You are a kick-ass birther and you can so do it. I'm really sorry they never told you of the vaginal breech option, with your history you would have been a perfect candidate for a vaginal breech birth.
Good on you for standing strong on your options. Have you seen the Birthrites website: Birthrites - Healing After Caesarean
    - great info there to back up your VBAC decision.

    Thinking of you xxx

    Woohoo WE DID IT

I jsut wanted to come in and say again thank you to all of you for the support you showed me wheni was going through such a stressful time. and to let you all know that we have achieved our goal!

Little Molly Grace arrived safely into the world on the 12th May at 10:30pm weighing 8lb 1.5oz drug free vaginal birth without a scratch to her Mummy! I am sooooo proud of myself for achieving my Vaginal birth after 2 c-secs! Thanks again for all the support!

In the end Molly was born at teh Royal Womens Hospital in Brisbane as my local hospital decided wheni was 10 dys overdue that they wouldnt support me! All my Midwives at teh RWH were absolutley fantastic and everytime the docs there would stress me out and try and change my mind my MW were right there supporting me and putting everything back into perspective. So yay to all my MW and all of you beautiful MW out there you are truly what helps us birthing mothers through these hard times!
