I've been thinking about doing it too and have found someone locally who runs the courses but it's so expensive, I'm not sure we'll be able to manage it
If you guys are in a health fund check it out. Apparently most funds help cover the costs. We paid each time we went - I think it was $80 a time so it made it a bit easier. It is a bit expensive but really very much worth it.
I doubt our PHI would cover it, we only have restricted obstetric cover.
We have an extras bonus that might pay for some of it, but we'd still be hundreds out of pocket.
It's such a shame Lori, I think I would really benefit from it because while I am pretty adamant about drug free labours, last time I struggled and was contemplating an epidural at one point - something I thought I'd NEVER do and to be honest terrifies me. Thankfully I was already 8-9cm dilated at that point and knew I was on the home stretch.
But I've done it twice before and I'm confident I can do it again

I'm doing the hypnobirthing version at the moment and I thought that the price was too much. But since I started it I think it is worth every cent and would probably pay more if i had to. Already I am much more intune with my body and feeling a lot calmer about my VBAC in a few months. My health insurance doesn't cover it at all but my mum is helping me out with the cost as she know how important the VBAC is to me.
The main thing it is teaching me is to go into a deep relaxation and allow my body to do the work in birthing my baby, with out worrying how it is going or doing anything counterproductive. I've just tried to add a link to another thread that has heaps of information. I hope this works and I am allowed to do it as I've never tried this before!
