Yep...i posted something similar in the week. Harry was 4 days i think when i had my meltdown. I could prob cry now at the drop of a hat......i think the sleep depo has a huge amount to do with it. Yesterday i felt good, had a reasonable amount of sleep. Today i feel crap, dont want anyone to talk to me, dreading tonight.....but havent cried yet.
dont think i got it with DS... will be interesting to see with this one.
MBear - sending you a special hug. wish i could come help you (though what i would do with 4 kids i dont know LOL!
I did with DS1 in a huge way, but not with DS2. Just generallly teary, of an evening for the first week most days, less often after.
I think coming home from hospital early this time made a difference.
Similar to BG, DD had lost 12% of her body weight and I was so emotional, wanting to go home but being held back because of my "failings". In the end, my milk had just come in a bit late and everything was fine, we didn't have to supplement and I went home that afternoon but I was so hysterical and falling to pieces that morning.
Yep! Really bad! I remember at the hospital, when the midwives would change shift and the new one would come in to see how everything was, I'd just burst into tears!! There was nothing wrong, just hormones!
I have had the baby blues both times with my babies the night that I left hospital (which was day 1 with DD and day 2 with DS). I think I just found it overwhelming that all of the excitement of the baby arriving and everyone meeting them was over and I had to learn to look after them and adjust life to meet the needs of my new baby.
I think I also found it difficult because I am a social person and like having people around and I found that people come to meet the baby and then steer clear for a couple of weeks. People were also very surprised if I ever left the house in those early weeks . . . but I needed to get out and see the the world was still turning. I was also too tired to have lots of visitors, especially after DD and that bummed me out a bit as well.
With DD my baby blues lasted about a week. With DS they only lasted a day. I found giving myself things to look forward to with DS helped to get me out of it a bit. I also had adjusted to the idea of being a mummy by the time DS was born and did not feel so out of my depth. I think I was also a bit shell shocked from labour after DD. I knew more of what to expect with DS . . . even as far as the baby blues go.
I don't remember getting them. I remember bawling on the third day with DD2 but that was because the hospital bed was killing me and I was begging for pain killers for my back! But other than that, don't recall being overly emotional with any. My hormones tend to get back on track very quickly. I started out bfing all of them and got my period back 1 month later without fail.
