I love music and I make sure my boys hear alot of it in utero and out of it (so they all love it) but I never ever had a chance to use it in labour until this time round.
I have such eclectic tastes I wouldnt know whether just to make a comp CD of all my fave's or stick to "mellow" music.
Do you have an iPod? My best friend used one with a set of speakers during her labour.
She prepared a heap of playlists with different genre's of music and she just played whatever she felt like at the time. She had everything from heavy metal to calming nature sounds.
Yep, I made an 8 hour playlist which went onto a little portable mp3/hard-disk system that we have. It was predominately downbeat/chill electronica and dub and started with beats then progressed through dub to minimalist soundscapes (if you want to know specific artists I can tell you, but most would be considered obscure by commercial standards). After Euan was born we put the player under his rocker. And we still listen to it in the car from time to time.
I had the midwives put on some soothing music while I was in labour both times. I have no idea what it was, Enya perhaps (or something like it - it was one of the hospitals cd's). I really enjoyed it, took my mind off it.
Yep! I finally got my act together for bub 3 and had John Butler on throughout labour cos he's my fave. didn't even get to the end of the CD he he he! She was born during 'seeing angels' and I thought that was cooool as.
I was going to have my hypnobirthing CD on but everything happened so quickly and I liked the radio music they had on that I just left it at that and don't even remember what was on to be honest...lol. Mind you he was born 45 mins after getting to hospital.
yes i did, must say didn't hear much of it. I wasn't really thinking about it but still glad i had it there. My ds was born to " do you remember" by jack Johnson i love that song and we play it all the time at home
Had nothing Anna! Didn't even think of it, just wanted baby OUT! However, always played music in utero....in particular "Baby Mine" by Bette Midler. DD loved it and still does!
