Question Does anything...and I mean anything at all hurt more than child birth?

So I am wondering.....have you ever experienced any type of pain you would say was actually worse than child birth?

Ali.... for me i can't say anything else has been as painful as child birth, for me child birth was a good pain i know sounds silly but i knew that at the end of all of the pain i would have my little baby in my arms and that pain would go away.

I believe it is something you have to experince for yourslef to know what the feeling/pain of child birth is all about...ykwim?

Not for me!! The pain was indescribable.

My son was posterior and the back pain nearly tore me apart. But like Westy said, through it all I knew that it wouldn't last forever and I would have a baby to show for it

I have never broken a bone in my body so i wouldn't know that end of the pain scale but like the girls have said is labour pain has a purpose and if doen the way nature intends its not a sudden thing it slowly builds you body does get the chance to rest.
dont be frightened of it it comes and goes

That's a hard one. I have had some pretty painful tooth ache & tonsilitis. I guess the difference is that you can generally get some relief from those with pain killers. I had both gas & peth & they really only just took the edge off labour. Just before I gave birth someone told me that her recent labour & birth didn't really hurt so I figured it couldn't be that bad. Of course my experience was very different to hers. I can also tell you that the pain I got after the birth from stitches was something I just was not prepared for.

I have definitely experienced a pain worse than childbirth, so excruciating that I lost consciousness, and not from broken bones/injuries either. But I'm not going to go into details about it.

Childbirth was incredibly painful - but definitely a 'good' pain. One that my body was able to handle when left to labour naturally. It was quite awesome actually, and afterwards I felt quite powerful.

I've never been in more pain in my life, but its a different pain.
Its not a pain that you cry over I think coz you have to concentrate so hard on it.
    Its indescribeable.
Unfortunetly though,as Westy said, the only way possible to know how it feels is to experience it your self.
It can be scary, but you just have to remember what your body is doing. Its doing what its meant to.
Its not as scary once you are there. Don't get too hung up thinking about it.

"They" say that there is nothing more painful than childbirth and kidney stones . But I agree with the others - childbirth is good pain with a purpose and you can manage it because you know what you are working towards. Kidney stones would be so different!

Make sure you look into relaxation & breathing techniques, this made a MASSIVE amount of difference in the pain I felt between labour 1 & 2.

If the old wives tale is true then Gall Stones are supposed to be the only thing worse. I think that breaking a bone is pretty darn close to labour though.

Nope i havent.. Though after my episiotomy i had a large skin tag removed WITHOUT a local and i would have to say that came pretty close to being as painful as child birth!

labour sucks. It hurts like it will never end, I felt like I was getting ripped open from the inside. I have had both posterior and normal, from 8lbs to 11 and they all hurt. People say you forget the pain but that is crap, I haven't forgotten!
But in the end you get a baby so it's all worth it

Worst thing for me would be having an abscess tooth for 2 months. That was worst than all my labours put together!

I think it's ok for people to say how painful childbirth was. Yes it's a miracle, but I dont' think we need to all feel that it was a good pain. I certainly didn't, it was in no way a pain I enjoyed. I enjoyed the end result, but not the process. Sorry. I do think the pain is quite quickly forgotten thus we go back for more, and that's nature's way of getting us to have more kids! But I don't want to gloss over something that every time, I dread and do not enjoy. Doesn't mean I dont' want the end result, or love it any less..

Mmmm, this is a bit late, but I found child birth painful - but not unbearable (natural water birth).
I have been in worse pain. Having my wisdom teeth smashed and pulled without a working anaesthetic was worse. Actually, the injections after birth for the local anaesthetic to stitch me up (had a small labial tear) were worse than childbirth itself.

During childbirth, I always knew that this pain was not gonna last, so I knew, I was gonna get relief from it sooner or later. I never felt that something was wrong. I never felt that I couldn't take it. Not once did I even think I needed pain relief. I knew there was a reason for this pin. To me it felt more like when you really really push yourself during exercise. Not a pain associated with an injury, but a pain associated with an extreme load on your muscles, with pushing your boundaries.
It's hard to describe, but I didn't see it as pain. It was more like trying to find the strength within you. yes, I did sometimes wonder how would I get through another contraction. But my thoughts were more around finding a better position or something like that, rather than about how can I stop this pain.

I cannot wait to do it all over again!!!

My xh would be adamant that a broken shin was more painful than ANYTHING in the whole world. He didnt get any brownie points from me for that.
