    Epidural Q

Im not pregnant but im trying to understand why the Dr tried to force me to have an epidural when all my reserch since has led me to believe he had no idea what he was doing. I refused. I have low blood pressure normaly ( 90/60 is normal but has been 70/40)
all I have found out has led me to believe if he had got his way I could have ended up very sick and what would have happened to my DD2.

An epidural for a vaginal delivery? How weird that they would try to force that on you.

I may be completely missing the point of your question, but I had similar BP throughout my preg (90/60) and was worried about the epi for my c-section. Strangely, the stress of the procedure meant that my BP even after the epi was higher than any other point in the pregnancy, so it was fine. Maybe the same thing happens during a vaginal delivery?

In any case they pump you up with lots of fluid to counteract any drop in blood pressure. My anaesthetist wasn't at all concerned when I said my BP was usually low.

I'm sorry if I've misunderstood your question - please feel free to disregard my response if I have!

Cos if you have had an epidural you are often contained to the bed and are much more passive?
