Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you... (Master Yoda, Star Wars: episode 1)
Yep, I have some issues. 1 unnecessary cs and one afte totally unsupported vbac.
Want to vba2c again but still feeling uneasy...
What fears do you all have? Any ideas to help with controlling fear?
Hey Sarah
I had a horrible time giving birth to my first baby so I saw a doula who specialised in hypnobirthing - which was not as hippy and earth mother as I thought it would be.
This was truly amazing in helping me overcome so many of my fears of giving birth to number 2. I cannot reccomend this kind of support enough, it made such a difference in my attitude and approach I even looked forward to her birth (sort of...)
When your body has fear, its one of the most primal emotions. There are two things to do with fear, fight or flight. Neither will help get a baby out!! When I was going for my VBAC I knew this and had to set up ways to stop giving into fear. Like Nic said, doing hypnobithing as my antenatal gave DH & I something to do instead of freak out. Calming down was fantastic. The other thing was having birth support. I had a doula. I debriefed my first birth with her and with a close friend who is a doula. I read and got informed about what my body was doing and about birth. When it was time and I was in labour, I got really excited about it rather than fearful.
I agree with doing some hypnotherapy or hypnobirthing to work through these fears. It can really help you work through your issues and come to terms with them.
