Question How long was your birth story???

I wasn't sure where exactly to place this, as it's not exactly a 'birth story' but i wasn't sure it belonged in General Chatter either - Moderators please move if necessary.

I'm just curious to know, how long was your birth story?
I'm currently writing mine and i'm going to break 4000 words before it is even finished.

I really wanted to document everything i could remember - but i never imagined it would come to this much. & I really want to share it here on BB but i don't imagine anyone will read it and i don't feel right about cutting pieces out and making it incomplete!!

Has anyone else had a ridiculously long marathon of a birth story??

Especially considering mine is 'textbook' - drug free no interventions...
I mean, seriously FOUR THOUSAND WORDS???!
The only thing it's got going is that is was eighteen hours and it's obviously an emotional recollection as well as all the obvious physicals etc...

It's a short thesis for christs sakes.

OMG HUN!!! I missed your annoucement!!!

Congratulations on your "text-book" birth. That is what you wanted and I am so happy for you that you got it!!!! All that worring about c/s for nothing

I am coming out from under my rock (been taking stock for year-end)

About the birht story ... don't know how many words mine was. But if you write down everything and it turns out stand in line for best-seller of the year ... go for it.

I believe that birth stories are for the mothers. You write down everything and get to experience the birth again and get to take note of the little things that you did not really consentrate on when you were actually giving birth.

I am looking forward to reading your thesis ... post it ... NOW!!!

    Haha thanks Nadine!

I figured that i am writing it to remind myself, and i dont want to leave out the 'useless information'... but i never thought in a million years that it would be quite so long.

I easily broke 4000, now i'm wondering if i'll break 5, and that's not even considering my thoughts after the birth... lol!!!

Dear oh deary me. It has been fantastic to write it all down down, i think it's going to put me a lot more 'in touch with myself' for next time, give me some clarity, something to reflect on, etc.

I'll try and post it tomorrow if i get the chance.

ETA - and by 'useless information' i mean, i don't seriously know how i remembered so much... and i dont know what compels me to not cut it down. It could be - "and then we went to the hospital" and instead its, i was anxious, upset, scared and being taunted by my younger brothers while we drove to the hospital... gah... why do i have to be so pedantic???!!!!

I don't know how many words mine was, but it was certainly a novella

I think it's great to get down every detail that you can remember, because over time, you forget your labour (natures way of tricking us into doing it again, I suppose!) so to have a record of it means you can remind yourself of what you experienced - and it's certainly one you want to remember.

I can't wait to read your short thesis, Ashlea!

I felt both mine was long, but i find the more u remember the better off you are in adding it.

The longer they are, the more reflection u can look back on!

    Thanks everyone...

It certainly does have well, a lot of unnecessary detail for anyone else's eyes, but i wanted it for my own sake. Came in at more than 5000 words!!!
