    how often DTD?

just wondering how often should you DTD to use it as a natural induction method? also does it tend to work more effectively from a certain amount of weeks pregnant? or like everything else, baby will come when its ready?

Im guessing you can do it as often as you like...If you can be bothered.....lol!!!! I think it is something in the Semen that can trigger it but not always!! Just don't do the deed if you waters have broken...even if it is a trickle!!
Not sure if it is more effective if you do it close to your due date? I think it would be tho cos you can do it throughout your pregnancy and it's safe!!

I do know that boy stuff has something in it that helps to ripen the cervix.
I guess the more you do it, the more chance you'd have. It could help

From what I have read, Semen contains prostaglandins that has the same properties as the gel they use in the first stage of induction. So, sex may help to ripen the cervix during the last few weeks of a pregnancy. But I guess if it's not really, it's not ready, there is only so much that will work, IYKWIM.

But really, it can't hurt right , I was told that having a big "O" can help things along as well. So I say go to it like bunnies, he he he Enjoy it......

    Hi Hollo
You can DTD every day and all day if you want to. Mwluchja is correct with the prostaglandin thing and also the ‘Big O’. You will only go into labour if your baby is ready to come out.

thanks guys. alan, i have a quick question for you. i was induced last time and had a hypertonic contraction when i had the prostoglanden gel inserted. does this mean that maybe i should stay away from DTD this time round? it hasnt been a problem so far, but just wondering if the closer you get the more sensitive you get? we DTD on the weekend and i did get a little crampy afterwards?

The amount of prostolglandin in the gel is huge compared to one ejaculate of natural prostiglandins. You may get a bit crampy and some braxton hicks but wont give you hypertonic contactions

Talking As much as you like!!!

At our antenatal classes our MW said that we were allowed to complain about not going into labour naturally if we hadn't DTD everyday, once a day at least from 36 weeks!! The guys looked soooo excited, this girls no so much

DH was very dissappointed when I delivered at 33 weeks, he was looking forward to about 4 weeks of DTD everyday!

Orgasm worked for me. No need to DTD to achieve that. 3 days in a row once each day and my labour started on the 4th day.
