    hypnobirth??

    hi all,
just wondering how you go about learning how to hypnobirth? is it a self education thing where you just read some books or is there a course to do etc? what is involved? how long do you need to practice/learn it for it to be effective? thanks

The most effective way IMHO would be to attend a course. That way you really learn the techniques with someone there to show you the ropes and make sure that you are going through the steps effectively ITMS.

However, loads of people have found success with books too. I guess it depends on your own self determination.

    Goodluck with whichever you decide!

I would say it is more likely to be effective if you attend a course.

We started to read one of the books, but it didn't really sink in until we attended our first session of our course. I actually cried I felt so relieved and it made so much sense. After my last birthing experiene I never thought I could feel so relaxed and confident and look forward to birthing so much. I was terrified of going back to the same hospital but the affirmations and a meditation we were given has helped so much. It has also helped my partner. And we have only done one session so far! I would definitely recommend a course. We found our Hypnobirthing instructor through a friend, but you can go to Hypnobirthing Australia website and have a look.

I did a hypnobirthing course at 35 weeks after reading the books earlier in the pregnancy - and I will be recommending it to everyone. It really gave me the confidence to plan a natural birth and the techniques are really good - it also made DF such an amazing support to me.

I went through hypnobirthing Australia too - its really worth it!!!
