    Hypnobirthing/calm birthing

I am looking at taking a course in hypnobirthing or calm birthing and I wonder if anyone has any recommendations of courses they have done.

To narrow it down a little, I am in Melbourne!

    Any suggestions?

    Hi!

I did a Calm Birth course and to be honest as much as I loved the idea of it, I found the techniques weren't too in depth for my comfort level. It basically taught relaxation, but I personally need a bit more in case it's difficult for me to relax mid labour....

I'd recommend Calm Birth for the relaxation side of it and JuJu Sundin's Birth Skills as a compliment to it.

I'm due at any time now, I'll be sure to let you know what worked for me!

Thanks Mummato2, that is exactly the sort of thing I want to know!

I have been referred to Noble birth also, anyone have any experience with them or others?

We are starting a Calmbirth class next week in Upper Ferntree Gully, with Melanie Cane (if you do an Aussie goggle search for TLC birth you will find her site). She has been highly recommended to me by soooo many different people. And she has been very lovely and accommodating in my dealings with her so far. I can give you more info in a week's time after the first class if you like!

Calm & Confident Birth Skills in Gippsland

I am a registered midwife who is very passionate about keeping birth normal. I work in a public hospital and regularly care for women who have very extensive birth plans regarding their wish not to use any drugs for the birth. Most do not have any skills to implement their plans! For this reason I have started my own private childbirth classes in West Gippsland. Drouin/Warragul venue. I cover relaxation techniques, visualization, breathing, role of support people , importance of the hormones and the birth room environment, exercises to promote your baby into a good position for birth. My classes are a fraction of the cost of the calmbirth/hypnobirth ones and are based on real life experiences from attending 100's of births and having had my own three children. My main message here is for people to seek out quality private birth classes if you want real skills to implement your birth plans. Email me on francesj@dcsi.net.au if you want more info. Thanks.
