Question I Don't Want To Get Her Hopes Up

A close friend is due to have her 1st baby any day now, her EDD is the 15th but she has had issues with suspected pre-eclampsia (sp?) (horribly swollen feet and high blood pressure) she has been in and out of hospital having tests the last couple of weeks and is quite understandably nearly over it all.

So we had planned a catch-up today so i msg'd her yesterday on FB and asked how she's feeling, no pressure for visitors etc i got this:

Hey.. yes getting there.. just bloody ready to have this kid out now thank you.. have tried some of the self-inducing techniques (and others I will wait till I'm totally desperate) but nothing, although I think my mucus plus has gone and I have like period-ish like pains so hopefully not much longer.
I suggested to her that the period like pains COULD be things starting and to just rest when she can and see how she feels.
Now i know everyone is different but thats how both of my labors started, i didn't really get a lot of BH's so i'm unsure if these can feel the same.

    This morning i get this:

Well i think (could be wrong) but I think im having contractions... well I've have like strong period-like cramps every 5 to 15 minutes since 4am but nothing else.. what the hell that means I dunno but think I will see how I go. Probably be braxton hicks If nothing has changed by around noon then I think a movie date may be in order.
I have sent back asking her what they are like, is it an ache or is it a pain she needs to STOP and think about, do they go away straight away or does she have to wait a little bit.

You'd think after doing this twice myself i'd have a better idea now wouldn't you but could this be the start of things, to me it certainly sounds like it but i know each labor is different... so ladies and gents what do you think.
Could i have a new little bubba to cuddle soon?

I'm going on record to say i think it's a boy and HE will be roughly 7lb 8oz... no idea why but thats my thought, i originally guessed the 17th for his birth date but i might just be wrong.. and i hope for her sake i am.. she's totally over it now.

Well if her pre clampsia is so bad, in surprise her OB has giving her a c/s. i had it with my first and i had to a c/s

hmm it sounds like they could maybe suggest she just go with it

From what i understand they had said they suspect pre-eclampsia but she only had say 2 of the 3 main symptoms or something, last week they were talking possible induction but gave her some more time, i know she's meant to have another Dr's appt tomorrow so for her sake i am HOPING this is the real deal and she doesn't HAVE to have a C/S unless it's completely necessary.

    Update:

Just tried to sleep again but not happening. they're like strong pains that make me stop but they dont seem to be getting any worse or frequent. i cant move to get rid of them.... oh i dunno. confusing!!
I hope this is it for her, i was blessed with quick labors so unlike poor Helle didn't have to really deal with the IS THIS IT feeling... damn this birth process.. couldn't they make life easy for us all..

I am GLUED to my PC, checking like every 10min have only managed to clean the kitchen and deal with 2 feral kids... kinda hope she says she needs someone there to take her mind off things, get out of the house and keep me away from the comp

oooo.... How great! And how lucky that she has gone into labour naturally even with the pre-eclampsia. Best for everyone really that if her blood pressure is up for baby to come out now.

FWIW I had some signs of PE but not all and was induced. No C/S for me.

Hmmm no update from her since 10am this morning.. sorry ladies am posting in here to resist urges to msg her (we all know how annoying that is) she said is she felt better this arvo she would still organise a catch up.. no msg since 10am... maybe things have progressed or maybe she's finally getting some rest... argh damn this suspense is killing me

Oh and i'm nesting for her.. cleaned my kitchen twice, vac'd floors, tidied DD1's room, cleaned 1 bathroom and started the other, tidied lounge but is a mess again so off to do that while girls sleep.. ahhhhhhhhhh

You seem more excited than if you were waiting for your own baby! All the waiting has resulted in excellent work though love it I reckon a relax is definitely in order, and fingers crossed things are moving for your friend!

I've stopped cleaning, maybe that means a baby is here... only kidding.
It's taking all my strength not to just call her, i know if things are not happening having some one call to check would be the biggest PITA and if something IS happening you don't want people annoying you.

Ah yes we can't win, thank god for BB so i can rant and rave and be all weirdo excited on here..
