Unfortunately it's hard to explain to those what they can gain from online forums like BB if they aren't already into it. People are still amazed when I tell them my DH and I met online.
I am so mad today.
I know 2 people one local to me (rural Vic and one Melbourne) that have had c-sections in the last 4 days due to their Ob's telling them that their bubs will be big - in excess of 10 pounds. First bub was 7p 11Oz and the second was 8p 4oz!! WTH! That is NOT a big bub!
I am mad that these woman did not get to try for a natural birth - they were sacred into have a c-sect!
Im sad that they MAY one day feel the kind of pain that I did and the failure that I felt for having to have a c-sect ( They may not - and I hope they dont - but they may!)
Im SO glad I have BB to open my eyes and make me relise how much more we can achieve as woman! Makes me want to achieve my VBAC - even with a 10 pounder - even more now!!
Thanks Belly Belly!!

I totally understand....
I'm greedyI've never told friends of BB as its my 'safe parenting place'; but when I hear of a friend having 'mummy troubles' I recall some valuable advice I had read on BB and pass it on
.
Damn scare tactics!
oh i know exactly what you mean. I felt the same way this morning...and have for a while since a friend in the uk had her baby. so many things pop up and i just think , gosh if people educated them selves a bit better the world would be such a different place. i am always so greatful for BB and all that it and the lovely ladies here have taught me and will continue to teach me! DH even says that its helped shape me into the wonderful mother i am today (his words)
Im still a bit sheepish about telling people about being involved in an online forum as so many of the people i know think its a bit wierd but hey...they think breastfeeding a 2 year old is a bit wierd too
Leesa: im the same a bit,i tell strangers i meet in the park about it but i havnt told any friends or people i know about BB, im like you, i need that safe place too!![]()
Awwww thats so sweet. Thread like this make me feel so awesome. I am so happy that BB has been able to change your lives forever xxxx

I wish I had known of BB before January 2007..... and I'm pretty passionate about VBAC's and natural birth and stuff now so I probably annoy the bejeebers out of people IRL....
me too - BB has totally shaped how I am as a mother. Both my DH and I are so grateful (esp to my lovely baby buddies who have shared the journey of both my boys with me) xxx
Since joining BB (moreso after I had ds) I know more about cloth nappies, and am a little more educated about how I'm going to have this next bub. I can't imagine how I'd parent if I didn't have you guys to turn to!
I am only new here but I a finding it a very warm, safe, friendly and fun community.
I am glad I have found it.
It's true Kelly, it really has changed alot of our lives. I know it has helped me in so many labour and birth aspects not to mention parenting aspects too!! These online forums are our "village" that us Mum's need so badly!!
I reckon some Mum's at home that aren't on a forum must feel a bit isolated???? I never do. I have IRL Mum's and BB Mum's, I'm never lonely
So THANKS Kelly and Mods!!
They do say it takes a village to raise a child - I love my cyber BB village![]()
i dont have an IRL village atall....not even grandparents/family. I really dont know what id do without BB!
