I had all my favourite albums on my iPod ready to rock. I laboured for 6 hours in the hospital and I can only remember listening to Tracy Chapman as I think I kept demanding it be played again I particularly loved the song 'I'm Ready' (lyrics below). I loved it and will use her album again next time

I want to wake up and know where I'm going
    Say I'm ready
    Say I'm ready

I want to go where the rivers are overflowing and
    I'll be ready
    I'll be ready

I'm ready to let the rivers wash over me
I'm ready to let the rivers wash over me

    If it's love flowing freely
    I'm ready
    I'm ready

If the waters can redeem me
    I'm ready
    I'm ready

I'm ready to let the rivers wash over me
I'm ready to let the rivers wash over me

    Oooooh, Oooooh

    I want to wake up
I want to know where I'm going
I want to go where the rivers are over-flowing

I'm ready to let the rivers wash over me
I'm ready to let the rivers wash over me
    I'm ready
    I'm ready
    I'm ready
    I'm ready
I'm ready to let the rivers wash over me
    I'm ready (I'm ready)
    I'm ready (I'm ready)
I'm ready (to let the rivers wash over me)
    I'm ready (I'm ready)
    I'm ready
    I'm ready
I'm ready to let the rivers wash over me
    I'm ready
    I'm ready (wash over me)
I'm ready to le the rivers wash over me
    I'm ready (I'm ready)
    I'm ready (I'm ready)
I'm ready (to let the rivers wash over me)
    I'm ready (I'm ready)

    Save a place for me
    Save a space for me
    in your heart
    in your heart
    Save a place for me
    Save a space for me
    in your heart
    in your heart

    Cause if you wait
    I will come for you
    If you wait
    I will come for you
    If you wait
    I will come for you
    If you wait
    If you wait
    If you wait

    If you wait
    I will come for you
    If you wait
    I will come for you
    If you wait
    I will come for you
    If you wait
    If you wait
    If you wait
    Save a place for me
    Save a space for me

Forgot to take a cd with my first, wish i did cause it was 10 hrs but with my second, i took Christina Agulira (sp) and gave birth standing up to "Dirty"!!
I never had time to listen to cds with my other 3, had the radio on for 1 of them, they were all born an hour after getting to the hospital, but i think i might take something this time!

The Bear put together a really long chillout mix which was awesome. Most of the time it was just background but there was one song that I hadn't heard before and between contractions I said "what is that? it's beautiful". I still really like listening to it and it was DD's bedtime music for a while. At the end though, it cuts into that Lily Allen song "smile" which really doesn't fit the mood. It sets my teeth on edge now because that was playing when she was born and not breathing/ being resus'ed.
But I still love the rest of the mix and some of the songs give me goosebumps even now when I hear them.
