    I'm scared.

I know, 6th baby & all. But I am scared.
I'm scared I wont know I'm in labour.
My last birth was painless, & if my water didn't break I would have had no idea. I would have passed it all off as BH's.

Things have changed now, I live 30 mins from the nearest hospital & I keep thinking, what will happen if I don't pick up on labour?
I had a PPH with my last & this hospital is only going to take me because I agreed to have a drip inserted to help prevent PPH again. It's only a small counrty hospital.

    I'm so nervous.

I can't often say this to people, but I know how you feel on this one.

Do you have an ob? What do they think? Do you have anyone close by who can support you in labour and call an ambulance if you go at home?

I guess just go in when you feel BH's again? Or call an ambulance? Better 3 false alarms then to have bub in the car - then again, as long as you have a phone to call an ambulance, hopefully you'd do just fine in the car.

I understand the fear, and I guess the best you can do is make as many plans for the 'just in case' as possible.

Storm, I can't really sympathise being this is my first bub and I have no idea what my labour is going to be like... but it must be stressing you out to think about all the "what if" scenarios.

It is stressing me out and I don't even have your past experiences.

Sorry probably not much help but I'm hoping everything works out for you...

Oh hun, I didn't realise I was in labour with Oskar either until the hossy said you better come in and he was born about 2 hours later. I have been feeling the same with this one and thinking OMG DH works an hour away from home ...what happens if it's a while before I realise again!!

BTW.. you look AWESOME in your ticker pic!!!

    Hi Storm
I don’t know if this is of any help but I have just finished working at a small hospital in NSW and plan to take a few weeks off work and do a bit of travelling. If you want to email or PM which town you are in I may be able to be there at the time of your birth. I could perhaps pop in and see you on a regular basis or if you phone me. I could then advise you when to go to the hospital or even take you there. And shouled you not make it to the hospital then at least you would have a midwife with you. There would be no charge for this.

God Alan, when are you moving to Scotland!?

Hun when i had a HB in the UK they put, amongst other things, syntometrine in my fridge in case i needed it for the 3rd stage. Is there any way you could have that prescribed and stuck in your fridge, so that IF (big if, you're really aware of the need to go in this time, so i'm sure you'll be on red alert for potential labour!) you give birth at home the paramedics can immediately give you the synto before they transport you? You could even have DH learn how to load and inject JIC?

Also, can you reach your own cervix when PG (i could, had to get into a weird position, but it was possible!)? Maybe you could get into the habit of checking how your cervix feels every day - even if you don't feel it much i'm sure you'll be able to tell from dilation when things are getting serious.
