Your birthing partners need to remember these things for you![]()
I have just finished Ju Ju's birth skills book and im hoping to be able to use the skills during my labour but i was wondering how people went about remembering the skills etc whilst in labour? Im scared that while im in labour ill forget all the skills. Any hints or tips?

Have him make up a little folder of notes that he can refer to during labour.
My Doula and my DH remembered them for me and made suggestions as we went. We had stress balls in the hospital bag which were given to me at some point and I didn't let them go for the rest of labour. My Doula then suggested stamping my feet as well because the stress balls (slammed against the bathroom tiles) were not quite enough to keep me sane.
I think your DH needs to read the book and you need to make sure he understands that his job is to suggest the ideas to you. Even if he writes them on a note card or something to remind himself.
I do recommend the stress balls too - if it weren't for them then I would have slammed my hands through the wall and drawn blood, no kidding![]()
I just read it too & loved it, it's going to be hard to remember it all!!!
I like the notes idea & key words like movement, breathe, visualise, maybe that will help. Think I'll write my notes in a little book tonight![]()
I had some notes, just one sheet of dot points that had just enough information to trigger my memory of the whole technique. For example I think I just had 'coffee plunger' and that reminded me of that whole visualisation. My labour went very quickly and I was at the time to push stage when I had only just got my head around the fact that I was actually in labour, so to be honest there was no time for reading notes, but DH was aware of some of the things I wanted to try and did suggest things.
LOL I had forgotten all about this but I had some stress balls in my bag and DH gave me one to try out when I was in transition and didn't know it (doh!). I was so far past the point of introducing the stress balls (you know these things work better if you start early on and build it up, not have a half hearted crack when you have already got to the peak!) and I hit it against the bedside drawers a couple times and sent it on a wide arc across the room, accompanying it's flight with a barrage of unlady like language. Poor DH, he tried!
