I am not pregnant, but I spoke to a friend yesterday and found out that his wife is expecting their first child. I was soooo excited for them. She is due today.......He did say that they really didnt want a Christmas baby and didnt want to be in hospital over Christmas and I just laughed it off remembering I went through exactly the same thing with my first baby (he was due xmas day).
Anyway, he was on msn this morning and I see he has written up that they are having their baby tommorrow. I got all excited thinking she was in labour.....
I asked him how she was going and he said that she was booked in for a c-section tommorrow morning!! WHAT THE!!??? I said WHY!???. And he said because the obsterician said her body 'wasnt responding', her cervix wasn't dialating and nothing seemed to be happening. I said, but she is only 'due' today???. I went two weeks over with my first bubba....
I tried to explain everything to them how a c-section HURTS LIKE HELL (been there done that) and he said that his wife would only need to be induced which would most likely end up in an emergency csection anyway so they would rather do it under "non emergency situation"!!. I said noooooooooooo !!
Ive tried in vain to explain everything to him but he got a bit cranky with me and said they knew what they were doing.....im just lost for words....how can an obsetrician let a couple who are having their first baby, elect for a cesear because things aren't going as fast as they want and because they dont want to be in hospital over xmas!!! Would she really rather have xmas lying in bed in pain!????
I'm not sure why everyone thinks your body can't do it all at once, when bubs decides. I have never had prelabour, never dilated early, never been told what my bloody cervix looks like BEFORE the baby is imminent, no Braxton Hicks and never been in labour longer than 5 hours....
That surgeon is a d ick and I'm sorry your friends thought he was right.
Was this up here on the coast mate or down the goldie?
Cos if it was up here it wouldn't surprise me... there's one OB that is quite happy to do the old c-section if you have no qualms about having one... (ie, my first OB!!)
I feel sorry for your friend.. cos I know all too well the battle she will have in front of her if she ever wants a natural birth..
OMG that's sooooo bad!! I can't believe what people get told sometimes. If it weren't for BB I would probably be a lot more naive about it all as well.... in fact I find it very hard to try to explain things to others also especially without sounding like I know it all and telling them what to do if you know what I mean. OMG I sooooo can't get over that!!! She's certainly going to have a painful Christmas too. I remember it was not much fun after the c/s at all!
