My DH didn't but it wasn't important to him and I got lots of skin to skin and then he got to bath her and hold her while I slept for ages so it sort of worked out well I was also stuck in bed (C/S) so he did lots of nappy changing and had lots of time to bond with her while I was bed ridden.
