    Labour close if baby engaged?

I'm about 37.5 weeks along and at my 37 week checkup the ob said that baby was engaged. This is my second baby and I was under the impression that baby wouldn't engage till very close to labour. Does this mean labour could be close?

Also, without giving too much gross info, things are getting a little bit more goopy down below and pungent smelling - not excessively, just enough for me to notice - a bit like I'm ovulating. is this another sign things could be imminent?

I can't remember about the smell, but my DD was engaged from the middle of my second trimester

    Hi Alice

With my second bub I was in the same situation as you (bub was engaged about the same time I mean), anyway DS went on to be born at 40 +3 (when the ob broke my waters).

    Good luck!

Unfortunately it's not a guarantee. Some babies engage and come and some engage and get comfy for the long haul. Fingers crossed that bubba doesn't keep you waiting too long.

(sorry not 100% sure i put those links in right..i'm hopeless with computers lol)

My bub was engaged from 31 weeks! i was so sure he would come early but he came 40+3 go figure. I guess they come when they're darn ready not when we want them too Not sure about the smell but i had a lot of extra 'stuff' down there from around 36 weeks and then started losing my plug around 38 1/2 weeks. Lost the rest of my show in early labour (was only blood tinged once i was in labour, sorry tmi )

    Hi Alice,

I don't think there is any guarantee, my DS was engaged at 35 weeks and I had similar changes to you from then as well but he came right on 40 weeks. It was terrible I was in so much pain and could hardly walk for 5 weeks because he was so low
Either way not long for you to go now anyway, all the best!

My second bub was engaged at 36 weeks, but he was born at 40+5 weeks. Didn't make it happen early for me!
