    Labour and sickness

    Hiya all,

Just wondering if your body waits until you're well opposed to sick to start labouring?? Kinda like a self preservation thing??

In short....I'm sick of waiting to go into labour and now I'm all chesty and gross which isn't helping my mental health either! So just wondering if I should still ask for a s&s tommorrow at my 40week appt. (my ticker is wrong..) or wait until I'm feeling a bit healthier....

I'd probably wait and see if it happens on your own, especially while you are not well. You can go own your own anywhere up to 42wks as long as you and baby are well, and maybe by then your chest will be better
Talk to your MW or OB tomorrow and see what they think.
The things you need to consider are what sort of birth do you have plannned? Is how you are feeling not going to make that possible?

Good luck with it all...hope you are feeling better soon

Yep Heather and Jolsy I think you're right (sob!).

I'm expecting a quick birth (last one was 4 hours in total) with no dramas (only going by what my first two experiences were like mind you) or intervention. So no marathon but who knows what this baby has in store for me! Famous last words

Ha! Went into labour the same arvo as the original post so my body obviously thought it was time!

For the record, being 'sick' during labour was fine, it was afterwards that sucked....coughing just after giving birth is no fun given your internal organs are still all over the shop, dangling about anywhere they like...

I think some shapewear will be getting put on very soon to hold it all in place!

At least the coughing reminds you to tense your pelvic floor though. No time like the present hey.
