So I lost my plug early yesterday morning. It was sticky and very bloody (brown), about a 20c piece. Sorry if TMI Lost more in the evening then early this morning. Had a small amount of fresh blood mixed in this morning. Have been having period-like cramping, BH and back pain on and off since 9.30pm last night. I am 37 +3 weeks . What do you think girls? Is this it? Should I stop DH from going to work?
Sorry I couldn't tell you because I didn't lose my plug until late in labour . . . but wanted to say sounds very exciting. Congratulations!!!
Can you give your midwife/ob/birthsuite a call and ask them what they think? I would mention to them that you have had some fresh red blood in case that is a concern. They may want to check you out or it may be very normal. My booklet thing from the hospital says to ring if there is any bleeding so I would call just to be safe.
Sounds like things are starting to happen but I probably wouldn't stop DH from going to work, it could be a while yet.
If he can get home again in a reasonable time, I'd let him go. You could both end up just sitting around waiting which kinda does your head in after a while!
It sounds like things are happening.. You might not be in labor though, i lost my plug around then and i had to be induced 10 days over. Id be at least ringing the midwifes about the bleeding they may want you to come in just for a check up.
Good luck.
Thanks girls. Called the midwife. wasn't much of a bleed - just some pink mucus. She reckons labour could be within hours or days. Not very conclusive Want bub now but my ob is away till next Friday so maybe it'll be good if bub can hold on till then. So excited though. Haven't slept all night! Going to calm down and have a snooze now (in between the crampimg). DH has gone to work but can be home in an hour if I need him. Oh! I hope I'm strong enough to deal with labour - don't have a very high pain threshold
dont focus on the labour, focus on the end product. Your baby, your very own lil baby. The emotions u get from seeing your baby for the first time well outweighs the pain. I kept saying to myself "the pain wont last forever". That seemed to help.
You'll be fine - it is amazing what you can cope with when you have to (it does help to have good support people).
If the cramps become too much for you - you can have a warm bath or shower to help ease the discomfort or take some panadol or use some hot packs. If they are real labour cramps they won't settle down no matter what you do, they just keep increasing. If they are BH then they generally will settle down for a time with hot packs and panadol.
Have a lovely rest and hopefully things are moving . . . if it is labour, the more rest the better because it is exhausting.
Sounds like the start of things to me! I had the pink mucous the day I had Elijah. There was a little a couple of times, but much more noticable on the day. I reckon when you have to start second guessing what to do then it seems to be that it's pretty much it.
I agree... don't focus on "the pain" ... focus on your baby and visualise your baby going down through the birth canal and coming out. Breathe and trust in your body rather than fight it - then you won't feel "pain" as such.
