    Talking Maybe I shouldnt watch.....

.........tv shows on giving birth while in early labour

Its 4am and my contractions are keeping me awake and here i am watching american birth shows on Discovery Home and Health. Its freaking me out but like a car crash, i cant look away. Just knowing what's to come (ie the hard labour) and watching these women is just not helping right now

Oh, good God, don't watch Discovery birth shows. Just remember that American women have some basic physiological differences that make birth appear harder and much more dramatic on television. For a start, they have a strange organ called a vajenna, through which all of their babies are born vajennally...

Lol Schmickers!! I can't stand those American birth shows either I lose my stuff and go nuts at the TV, yelling, 'WHY? WHY ARE YOU GETTING AN EPIDURAL AT 1CM?! WHY ARE THEY INDUCING YOU AT 37 WEEKS 'TO BE SAFE'?! WTH, how come I've NEVER seen a mother even attempt to breastfeed on any of these shows??!' I love the MTV show '16 & Pregnant' but it always leaves me feeling so sad and hollow because the stuff those poor kids go through in the American system just shocks me to the core
Good luck hun, hope today is indeed the day and you can find something positive to get you going!! Put down the remote, get on YouTube and start watching homebirth vids, they always leave me inspired, it might work for you too! x
