I don't know how useful I will be as my contractions were always close together... But, I would say if you want to get things moving (or keep them going), walk, i paced my length of house in the night, or bounce on a fit ball.
Stairs are good if you have them (but don't exhaust yourself)
How long til your Mum gets there? Do you have a back up plan incase you need to leave?
A bath could buy you some time if you need to slow things, but hoping in too early could stall labour... Try a shower, they are awesome!
