postierier births

Just curious as to how many postierier births ended up with a ceasarian?
And how long were your labours?
And last of all were all subsequent births postierier as well?

My first birth was posterior. 7.5 hour labour.

My first birth was posterior. I was in labour 50 hours and ended up with a natural birth and third degree tearing/stitches. If he didnt come out in the last push then i would of had to have a caesar.

DS was prosterior and didnt turn so was born that way. Active labour was 17 hours, had an assisted vaginal birth (vacuum) and an epi and syntocin after not progressing past 3cm at 12hours active labour.

I had a very long prelabour - was on to my third day by the time I went to hospital. Active labour around 12-14 hours, epidural, 3 hours of pushing which seemed to do absolutely nothing, then forceps.

DD1 was posterior and ended up being forceps with a large episiotomy. Both DD2 and DS were born vaginally with no tears even.

DD2 was posterior, 'fast' labour (my longest though) and vaginal delivery. DD3 was sideways. Only grazed with them.

My DD was born via cesarian after 15 hours as I failed to dialate past 4cms. She was posterior, and couldnt turn cos she was too big (10p4oz ).

DS was posterior and ended in CS after 14 hrs. DD was posterior and was an assisted (forceps) VBAC delivery. Labour began at about 4am and she arrived at midday. I was 10cm at 10am and pushed for 2 hours but ended up having help.

DD was posterior.

I had active drug-free labour for approx 7 hours, followed by emergency c/s. The fact that she was posterior was only a partial factor in the c/s - I had pretty severe PSD and turning with forceps made it likely that I'd end up on crutches. During labour, DD's heart rate kept dropping low and taking too long to come back up so they had concerns for her safety too... turns out she had a knot in her cord so a vaginal delivery would have been out of the question after all.

Had my first niggle at 4.30am, DS was born 6 hrs later. Drug free posterior birth assisted with forceps and large episiotomy.

DS was posterior but managed to turn during the birth. Was born vaginally with minimal tearing (and he came out with his hand against his head!) no other intervention other than epi. Labour was 5 minutes off 9 hours...start to finish!

DD was 32 hours labour. They told me she was posterior from about 36 weeks
1 shot of peth, gave birth kneeling on a mat on the ground with my arms on a chair in front of me.
No complications, no intervention, no stitches

DD was posterior, had SROM and then contractions started 15hours later. Active labour for 15hours, 2.5hr pushing stage, she didn't turn, no drugs, no tear (slight internal grazes) no intervention.

DS (born Monday, yay!) was anterior, and much quicker (4.5hours in total, 8min pushing stage )

Thanks ladies, not as many ceasers as i thought there would be. Both DD and DS were both posterier and as they were turning i can only assume they both got stuck and went into fetal distress in the same position. Both were brow presentation as well from what info i can gather.

Im not pregnant nor looking to be for awhile yet but am hoping the next one is going to be anterior so hopefully a vba2c will work.

My DS was posterior, also would have been brow presentation. (they said he was a stargazer??) I had pre labour for 1-2 wks, ARM at 40wks, laboured for 10 hours (gas and epi towards the end) only dilated 4 cm, emergency c-section.

Good luck TTC (when you do!) and I will be on your cheersquad for a VBA2C!! Im hoping for my own VBAC with the next one.

My DS was posterior with an anterior lip (only discovered that when I needed to push at 7cm's). I was induced, but after 10 hours on syntocin I had to have an emergency CS because he was stuck thanks to the anterior lip.

starrysky - thanks and i hope you get your vbac as well

Miss E - thats interesting as when i got to 6-7cm dilated i needed to push as well! Never got told why that was the case but it was the most excruitiating pain i have ever felt having to push and not being able to!
