Question about the labour after a FAST labour

If you had a fast labour, was your next labour faster or slower?
And how far apart were the labours?

Just because I've been told to take a break before the next child, and I guess I'm wondering...my second labour was 50mins and I lost 2 litres of blood - will the next one be 20mins and I'll bleed to death? I know that's drastic, but I'm just wondering is all.

You know with me mine was 3hrs first time and 90min second time. 15mths apart.

Even though there is always a chance it could be a long hard labour, my midwife has basically prepared me to do a mercy dash to the hospital at the first sign of labour. Even if its a false alarm. We've also planned that she will carry a birth kit with her once I hit 37wks and that I am to fill our bath tub, call her, get in it and then call 000 should I feel I dont have time Luckily she only lives around the corner.

So obviously, in her vast experience, she feels there are mega odds I will go quick just like the last two. I dont think it matters how much time is between babies, some of us are just fast dialators/deliverers.

My first was quick and my second was quicker. But not as quick as yours and I didn't lost a lot of blood so I'm not sure that it's quite the same. And I haven't had another one since then.

TBH it's hard to imagine a labour being quicker than 50 mins but I guess it happens. The manager of the child care centre DS1 used to go to had her third baby in the car on the way to hossy. One of her previous labours had been quick, the other was a c/s. The third one was just 10 ctx in total and no pain. She was sitting in the car and felt something in her tracksuit pants - it was the baby's head!

My first was 3hours 51 mins and my second was 7 hours 34 mins (I'm guessing this was due to her being back on back) because my first labour was fast All 3 of My mid wives were stressing to me that I shouldn't stuff around getting to hospital and call an ambulance if I feel things are going too quickly (even told DF what to do If I deliver at home)
so I guess the expectation from a medical point of view is yes the majority of subsequint labours are faster

My last labour was under 2 hours and so Im HOPING this one will be quicker (although I too lost alot of blood). However my mum keeps reminding me how quick her 2nd was, and that her third was slower. Guess it depends....

My first labour was 3 hours 20 mins and the second labour was 3 hours 12 mins.

You may be quicker or not but the pph is definately something to be wary of, friend of mine had very quick labours and pph's, by baby #3 she almost died, had to go into surgery to stop the bleeding and ended up having to have a hysterectomy, not that I am wanting to scare you, but definately something to be well considered.

Nelle I chatted to my OB at my 6 week checkup he told me that if I were to have another bub I would not nescessarily have another PPH.
There is a 1 in 20 chance of any PG having a PPH and having one previously doesn't mean you WILL have one again.

It's a scary thing to go through indeed and I understand why you'd be apprehensive about it

I was terrified of another retained placenta after I had Angus but have since had 2 bubs and the placentas fell out no probs. The PPH and retained placenta are unrelated happenings also.

My labours have also gotten a tad faster but I just knew when it was time for the last two.
3 years 2 months between A & C and 2 years 3 months between C & R.

My sister's 2nd bub was born in 1/2 hr. She didn't even realise she was in labour until bub crowned.
Her 3rd bub was born after 16hrs.

All my bubs have been around the same. DS1 7.5hs, DD 6hrs, DS2 - 6.5hrs.

Well my first bub was a 17 hour labour, horrible labour would not come down eventually did.

second was a 4 hour labour very quick hardly even pushed

and my third was 6 hour labour was horrible bled heaps too

Honestly i don't think that it matters what your previous labours were like i think that each one will be different just like the little personality that comes along with it :-)

My friend has had 2 fast labours. First one was 6 hours, second one was 25 minutes. She had a lot of complications afterwards with haemorriging (sp) for 3 months.

Just a tip for your super fast labourers... if you are at home and you feel the labour is going too fast for you, get on your hands and knees to get the bub off your cervix and get to your midwife/doc... of course this would work in hospital too if you feel you cant cope with a fast labour.

1st 6hrs
2nd 2hrs but only 12mins of feeling like i was in labour
3rd 10mins OMG yes..... i got out of the shower feeling fine. Sat on the edge of the bed and told my DH not to leave me...he said why, i said i just didnt want to be alone.... BAM contraction one....called MW 10mins later called MW again to tell her baby had been born, cord had stopped pulsation and had been cut, placenta had been birthed! We looked at her phone when she got here and it was only 10mins between called. Super intense....
Ill let you know how number 4 goes....IF i go there LOL


Thats why we planned a homebirth...i didnt want to birth in a car or ambulance

Yikes Milly, 10min is fast! Do you reckon a lot of the groundwork was done by Braxton Hicks contractions then, did you have those? I think those made the difference this last labour.
