Still in pain after VBA2C birth - is this normal?

I gave birth 7 weeks ago. A VBA2C!! YAY!! (so this is my first vaginal birth) But... I tore pretty bad inside and out. (I would still do a VBAC again even this being the case!) They gave me a general to stitch me up and I was on pain killers for a while. I am a runner, so at 5 weeks and 5 days I felt really good and decided to go for a little jog, pushing the pram, just home from the markets, only 800m or so. The next day I ran 3.1km, the next day 3.4km, had a day off, the next day 5.4km, the day after felt a little pain so had the day off and the day after that was in so much pain that I had to go back on my pain killers.

I had about a week off, and then did a simiar lot of running. I then power-walked about 4km the day after the pain came back bad, and about 2.5km the day after that as well (it was there a little bit throughout the week after my runs, but not too bad), it is now two days since I have done anything and it is still painful. BTW it doesn't hurt at all when I run, just when I have cooled down afterwards. Sometimes it feels like a burning pain.

I have been to my GP and he says all the stitches are healed really well and you can hardly see any scarring. I have some green vaginal loss, heaver on days that I run, which started only when I started running. He has taken a swab and I have to call on Tuesday to see if there in an infection. (My bleeding slowed down rapidly at 4 weeks and was all but gone by 5 weeks).

Has anyone else had this problem? I feel like I healed quicker from my C-S! If you tore inside and / or out, how long did it take you to feel right again? And don't even mention sex, that just scares me to death!

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

If it's started hurting more again then I think you'd better go back to your doctor. It could even be something else, you know?

I only tore on the inside but it took me a good year to not feel so sensitive down there and even now, 11 yrs later, if the toilet paper hits the scar the wrong way i feel it.

I think you should give yourself a bit more time. By all means run, but maybe lesser distances. I think any form of pain like that is your body saying you need to rest or slow down a bit.

I applaud you for getting back into running at 5wks postpartum though, at 5wks pp for me i was still in my sleep deprived/just given birth state and not capable of doing much more than dressing myself and eating

I had an all but 4th degree tear and it took a good 12 weeks to resume DTD, a good many many months not to feel sensitive may possibly have been a year and even now occassionally if I sit the wrong way and the area pulls then it hurts ALOT! If you were offered the general for tearing it sounds like it was a pretty bad tear and it will take quite a while to repair, remember its muscle and tissue and all sorts of stuff down there! Did your Dr recommend 3, 6 and 12 monthly checkups?

Dont stress hun, it was more to check that my pelvic floor was healing/ strengthening. If you want to be sure of things then you can make the follow up appointment.

Yes, 11 yrs later.............but dont stress, its only now and then when i hit that area the wrong way with toilet paper (its usually the rough toilet paper), it doesnt hurt now, its just sensitive sometimes still.
