Sara that must be confusing. You call it whatever feels right.

Andie I remember your false starts etc.

And THANKS so much Cassius - I hadn't even considered the after pains!!!!

Mine with DS weren't too bad so maybe I won't suffer too much this time around...

Jen, not long to go, two weeks plus or minus.

I was going to ask about that Sara, but didn't want to on FB.
You still laboured & birthed him, so I think it would be your fourth?

    Yeah I'm not sure hey.

My labours have always been 2 hours shorter.

    DD1 was 9.5hrs
    DD2 was 7.5 hrs
DS was 5 hours maybe 5.5hrs

So with that pattern this babe may be born in 3.5 hours??

The only thing that scares me about that short a labour is the intensity of it.

From what I've seen and heard, short labours are pretty damn intense.

Well who knows? Births do generally get shorter & babies heavier. Unless you're me

Like I said on FB, 18 hours, 30 hours, 5 hours & 12 hours. All mixed up.
Weights were 7lb 5oz, 8lb 9oz, 8lb 7.5oz & 7lb 9oz. DD1 being the lightest is the only thing that fits in with the way things are 'supposed' to be!

People have had much shorter labours than my 5 hour one, but for me & my body that was a shock. It was intense, because I didn't have time to prepare myself. To get 'in the zone' IYGWIM. No time to settle into it. DD2 was the best birth because even though it was long, it was gradual. I had time to make myself relax & concentrate on my cervix opening (had to do that, because I almost failed with DD1).

Not one of my labours was the same in any way. Except that the contractions didn't get regular at all with DS or DD3.

Your 3rd labour will either be your best, quickest & fastest or your worse. Mine was the best, quickest & fastest. I loved my 3rd

SIL just had her 3rd and it was her worst.

Good luck hun you are going to rock it!!!!

I'm not sure whether to count this as my 3rd or 4th labour/birth as I laboured for 5 hours with Reid before I pushed him out.
See, then i reckon that in terms of labouring, i would most definitely count Reid's birth as the 3rd and this will be your 4th.

    Thanks Liv I hope so!

Sara I've heard that too, shorter = more intense.

Really hoping it doesn't get bigger! I'm in a whole world of pain if this one is bigger than DS!!!

I'd say Reid was 3rd and this is 4th.

pain may get more but you know how to cope so it evens out I reckon

OP my third was 1kg heavier than my first and 600g heavier than my second but was easier to push out than both.

    Good luck!

Good grief - if this bub is 600g heavier than DS I'm looking at 5.5kg I don't even know what that is in lbs...!

But easier to push out would be welcome

In that case I hope this little one is 600g less than your DS and easier to push out!

Mine got progressively bigger too, but not by that much - 400grams between first and third. ANd yep, I'd agree that the faster it is the more intense. Miss E was all of about 15 minutes of active labour but oh my, it was one hell of a 15 minutes.

My third was in between for size, though would likely have been the same size as DS1 if he'd come at the same gestation as he did. (ie, DD born at 37 1/2wks, 3.6kg: DS1 born at 41wks, 4.2kg, DS2 born at 38 1/2wks, 3.9kg)

Mine got bigger each time & quicker each time.
    DD - 3 1/2 hrs 3850gm or 8lb8oz
    DS1 - 2 1/2 hrs 4400gm or 9lb11oz
    DS2 - 2 hrs 4620gm or 10lb3oz

    Each one got easier too

Our babies sizes were quite similar.

I'm on my phone so I can't see your little ones ages... Are they close in ages?

Because I wonder if age gap plays a role in sizing.

Can I ask how it was birthing a 10lb baby?

So I've spoken to a few people and everyone seems to be of the consensus that Reid was my 3rd birth even though the health professionals don't. So I'll just prepare myself for the possibility of a quicker labour this time
