You could use them for back pain. The labour tens are generally smaller and more portable than the regular tens. Keep in mind that after labour the pads are pretty gross and need replacing if someone else were to use it.
HI Ladies!
I'm thinking about getting a Tens machine for labor this time (I know, getting in early!)
I'm tossing up between buying one and renting one, and am favoring buying it as it will only cost a little bit extra (about $150 more I think)...
My question is:
IF I bought one, would anyone want to borrow it from me? (for free of Course! just send me a postage pack to send it to you)
I think, that if people want to borrow it, then I would buy one, but if not I would have to be able to justify spending the extra when I might not have any more kids..
Does anyone know what else they can be used for? I saw that you can use them for incontinence training etc, but the one I am getting is the Elle Tens, and I'm not sure it does this..

I don't think Eluned is PG.... unless she's keeping something a secret?!
I use a machine similar to a tens for back pain. It is an inferential electrode device. I LOVE it. I am looking at purchasing one but they are around $300. They can also be used for muscle toning. My physio recommends them for all sorts of injuries. I've used it on my knee before but have the most success on my back (I have slipped discs) - it's great for beating the spasms!
no not pregnant (you are the third person to say that this week but I'm not poas before new years!).
OW, I hired a tens for DD's labour, it was brilliant.
Well I bought one![]()
Should be here in a few weeks... if anyone wants to borrow it![]()
I hired a tens for labour and it was fantastic, lasted at home for most of it!
I have hired one for labour but it obviously hasn't yet been used!
Hopefully it'll be good, I have only ever heard good things about it!! And it is lovely that you are going to let people borrow it!!!
I think I'm the only person I know who hated the TENS machineI perferred no touching or outside artificial sensations (so wasn't keen to have any drugs either).
Good luck with it![]()
I notice this thread and was curious so popped in. I loved the TENS machine. Hired one for my labour with DD and it was a big part of what got me through the labour (only used TENS and the gas). I used it at home (laboured there for 24 hours) and then in hospital: the midwives had to gently pry it off me after DD was born saying "it's ok, you don't need it any more!" I hope you get good use out of yours Outbackwoman!
