I'm 39 weeks today and since last night at 1 am i've been having quiet painful cramps on and off and still going. I went to the toilet and had a show. Wow all so very excited and a little scarey as well.
This is my first baby and i'm really not sure what i'm feeling, is it just BH or the real thing? I guess i just wait and see, if the cramps get worse and closer together i will presume that i'm in labour. As far as I can see there's no regularity to it at the moment, and from what others are saying on here this could likey go on for a while as "pre labour" is that right? Problem is my sister is my support person with my husband and she's 1 1/2hrs away and I have no idea when to call her and tell her to come especially if it's pre labour. But then i think what if it's the real thing and i'm one of those freaky people that has their baby really fast...then what?
I live somewhere where i don't have any friends and am here on my lonesome so any advice or words of encouragement would be awesome to hear.
It does sound like pre labour, but the show means that is sounds like things are happening too!
A show can happen up to a week before labour starts, & pre labour can go on for days/weeks, but not always.
Can your sister come when ever you call? Or does she have work or something? Maybe give her a call as warning to get ready, then if they start getting a bit closer, stronger or more regular get her to come
Being your first, its unlikely you'll have such a quick labour. Its is a chance, people do, but its not very common.
HTH & Good luck hunny!!!
Thanks bjrose, very nice to get such a quick answer...
I just called my sister and did that exact thing, gave her the heads up, so at least we know things are going in the right direction. I'm prepared for it to go on a bit, but it's nice to know that things are progressing.
Also I didn't have a huge amount of movement yesterday and I've had nothing yet so far this morning mind you it's very early, is that normal? I've heard of the baby's movemnets can slow down when labour starts.
Ooohhh sounds like pre-labour! I would also recommend a walk. That really helped for me. Also if your DH is around, try having skin on skin time with him...that certainly did the trick for me! After a nice long cuddle, baby was born about 5 hours later!!
Does sound very much like pre-labour. I have had it last 2 weeks once, but only 2 days with my first so fingers crossed for you. When you go into active labour - you will know.
