waters broke 2hours ago & still no contractions???

Sooo is this ok or normal? I had a big gush and some smaller ones since. DF and I have been for a walk but now 2hrs later still no contractions. The hospital want me to come in within 4hrs but as nothings happening I'm thinking I might need to go earlier?

I didn't have a big gush but my waters leaked for about 7 hours before contractions started. I was told by my doula as long as it's clear or pinky colour then not to worry ( I didn't call the hospital cause I didn't want to be pressured into going in) If you don't want to go to hospital don't go! They will most likely just want to hurry things along. Good luck!!

That is normal. Dont buy in to the movie hype lol your body and hormones need a chance to work. Have a walk, get that pelvis moving and help baby get down nice and low

No dont be silly, no one can say that this is a stage where you have to suck it up...
Its very draining and extremely emotional, but huge 's you are very strong, One of my littlie's had the cord round his neck to, he had some bruising but he had other medical issues and ended up in the SCN. You are doing a great job and also doing what your body and your dr's are allowing you, just think tomorrow at the latest you will have your gorgeous little one in your arms and hopefully this will all be a distant memory..
Chin up babe, only good things to come.. xoxox

Lissy, an induction need not lead to a c-section. A good friend of mine was induced with both her babes and had them vaginally without forceps or pain relief (well she had gas but I reckon that barely counts )

I know it is hard but try to get as much sleep as you can

My waters broke at 4.30am and I didn't start getting contractions til 2pm. I'm not sure why the hospital wants you to come in (they sent me home) unless you are Strep B positive / Gestational diabetes ?

After my waters broke with DD1 I was told to go to bed and have a sleep and call back in the morning - I was given 12 hours before they were concerned about contractions starting. they started about 7 or so hours later.

Ok that's great. Id been starting to worry that absolutely nothing was happening. I had no warning leading up to my waters breaking and nothing since. so thanks for the reassurance its all good at this stage. I wasn't sure why hospital only have me 4hrs either, as I'm sure they said they let you go 12-14hrs once waters break.

    Good luck!
Stay at home if you don't want to be induced, cos that's what they will do in the morning!
A friend of mine went 24 hours before labour established and she just refused to go in.
Try bouncing on a fit ball if you have one, walking up stairs, another walk...
there is a few acupressure points you can try too... The 'headache' one in the meaty part of your hand between your thumb and first finger.... Can't remember any more as I feeding right now, but you can google it and you should find some pages that show you.
Good luck, trust your body, do what it says.
Sending you some lovely labour vibes :bellyrub:

Well looks like Im heading back to the hospital in the next 2hrs, I don't want a drip but seeing as its been almost 15hrs I figure Im on a countdown untill they have to interveen & a drip is better than a C-Section right??

DF & I have been walking down our dirt road & back every hour. Last night I was still getting some twinges & slight cramping afterwards but this morning absolutely nothing!

my guess is that bubs may be posterior...look up the spinning babies website...sounds like my first labour, i was induced 30 odd hours after my waters broke, wish id known bubs may have been posterior as im sure i could have gotten labour going on my own

Goog luck Lissy. You're right, the drip is better than an c/s. I hope labour starts on its own within the next 2 hrs. I'll be thinking of you.

My waters didnt gush either, just started to leak like I was weeing lol. The keeping leaking until I was ready to push which was 36 hrs later. As for the concrations, they will start in there own time, dont stress about that. Just keep walking and go to the hospital just to be checked, they will probably send you home anyway. Goodluck and congrats
