I started in a t-shirt and undies and then ended up naked as I spent a lot of time in the shower. I was unaware of anyone else being around so it didn't bother me at all. I figured that anyone who worked in the birthing suites had probably seen it all before.

I really didn't want to be naked so I wore a nighty up until I had my epidural when they made me wear a hospital gown. While I was pushing (which was about 2 hours I think). I got annoyed and pulled the gown off and was naked. I didn't care then!

I went into hospy in a comfy pair of gym pants and a long sleeved shirt, and laboured in that until my waters broke everywhere!!!
Than i laboured for a bit in the shower but hated it, the shower was annoying and i hated being naked, so than i went into a hospital gown, which was very comfy!!!

Thanks everyone. It sounds like it's a pretty personal choice which can change on the day depending on the mood. I'll prepare accordingly

A red Egyptian djellaba/kaftan thing with gold embroidery, and pointy slippers with stars on them, but not for long. Got into the tub, and into a hospital gown afterwards for just as long as it took me to waddle awkwardly from the bath to the birthing suite, before ripping it off coz bubs was born as soon as I got there, and I wanted skin to skin contact.

Such a good thread. I dont like being fully naked in front of other people. I am paranoid about all my stretch marks and my legs (I know I shouldnt be but I am) and my boobs are so big that I dont think I want them hanging loose. I wish I wasn't paranoid I think I am going to try and get a long glam nightie that I can just pull up and not wear anything underneath if they have to have access.

i had a bonds singlet and my undies, except for in the bath where I had nothing.
i knew before habd I was going to feel resrticted with anything baggy, esp. being it was summer and hot so was always going to be somthing tightish or nothing at all.

Haaaa stripped right off once I was in full labour and didn't want anything on me...
Brought him straight onto my chest so it was great for the skin to skin contact and breast feeding. There was only hubby and midwife in the birthing suite but honestly you don't care who is there and how they see you...you are so focused on listening to your body that what you are wearing is such a minor detail!!!
Have to agree with this - the last thing on my mind when I was in labour was what I was wearing. I went to hospital wearing trackies and an oversized t-shirt but within about an hour of getting there my cx's were stepping up and I needed to be in the bath. I changed into a singlet top and got into the bath but that didnt last long either LOL I guess as someone else said the weight of it wet I couldnt handle so off that came aswell

I was switching between the shower and the spa bath for the entire labour and ended up having my DS in the water, such an amazing experience!
