Thanks so much for the replies ladies, glad to know I'm not the only one that is a bit prudish. Have had a look through my wardrobe and there a few options in there just for keep modesty as long as possible lol I dont care if i dont look fashionable, more just covering my butt and boobs while I walk around, on a the birth ball etc. Having said that, am having some more strong contractions this afternoon (maybe mowing the lawn actually helped bring on labour ) and admittingly all I want to do is sit on the birth ball in my underwear. Might feel different around strange people though.

    Thanks again.

There was no way I was going to be naked while I was in labour. I don't like being nude at all! But the feeling of anything against my skin at that point was just not working for me...

The amount of times the midwife came in and say "Oh my gosh, you're naked again!" and pull a sheet over me lol

    Naked !

With both my boys' births I was well advanced in labour by the time I got to hospital, so I didn't much feel like showers. First time round I was "sure" I'd wear something comfy from home, but quite honestly I just didn't care and I was more than happy to take the hospital gown both times. Besides, why mess up a piece of my clothing

Hun, take what you think you might need and go with the flow. You'll soon know what you do/don't feel like wearing.

It was a cold, rainy day when DD arrived. I started off in trackies and a long sleeved top. After being monitored for 20 mins I stripped off and hit the shower I couldn't have cared less, despite my sister being there and seeing me naked for the first time since we were kids!

After my shower I demanded my top back on, but no bra, and my undies. My sister and midwife managed to put my knickers on inside-out do we have a nice pic of me labouring on the fitball with my knickers on the wrong way

I stripped off again in no time (I think I had another shower) and despite wearing a gown for my epidural and 1.5 hours later, I was naked for the rest of the time. Clothes were so annoying in labour and I couldn't care less about how I looked although I thought I may have been concerned. For most of the labour I was only really aware of me, my baby and the contractions.

    Good luck!

Started out in a nightie, then whipped that off to hop in the bath. When I got out of the bath I put it back on, then as soon as I was allowed back in the bath, it was off again. Second time I got out of the bath I put on a hospy gown, but ditched it about when I started pushing, and just did it all naked.

I'm normally a total nudist, love having my kit off, but for some reason I wanted clothes, even though it was a really warm day. I think it was to do with the size of the room - it was massive, so it felt kind of exposed.

Nude in the shower and one of those long T-shirt nighties ($10 from Big W) on dry land. I've worn the same nightie for each of my three births, it has a pic of a monkey and says 'Monkey's stole my underwear...'. Always attracts comments from the middies as they look up my hoohaa!

hahaha, this thread makes me laugh - does that make me immature?? hehe. I wore the hosp gown the whole time and I can remember thinking - I know this hurts like hell but how could anyone be naked and not care about it! lol - there was no way I was getting nude but everyones different and I really don't think the midwives care!

My first labour I was in trackie pants & a TShirt for the first part. Then after a few hours I got into a hospital gown & nothing else (they had to break my waters while I was in that too) I got into the bath in the gown as I'm a prude too. They must have put a dry one on me when I got out & thats what I wore for the remainder but by the end it was pretty much off, just slightly still over my arms I think LOL

My second labour was alot shorter, I wore a hospital gown again but no bath this time so I kept my bra on underneath. By the end the gown was off but bra still on.

You do get over the embarrassment pretty fast when you're in the later stages of labour & all you can think about is the pain lol

    Good luck

I was naked about 3 minutes after I entered the birth suite, in the shower for about 2 minutes then into the bath. Good luck with your birth

Yep - naked all the way. I'm a prude too but in labour I just couldn't have clothes on. I was starkers within seconds of entering the birth suite. DH had trouble convincing me to get dressed for the drive to the hospital lol!

I was just as worried about being naked as I was about giving birth lol I bought a $5 bargain bin light summer nightie to wear during labour. It was bright blue and had fluro pink 'practically royalty' written across the front. Every time I met someone new during labour at the hospital I explained I didn't really think I was a princess that it was a cheap nightie I bought and didn't care if I ruined it. Cracked everyone up! I took a couple of stretchy like sports bra/crop top type tops and wore one in the bath. Once she was born the top came off, but nightie went straight back on once out of the bath, and I lifted it to feed. We'd had a lot of skin on skin before getting out of the bath.

And you know that nightie didn't end up with one mark on it, still pull it out and wear it every now and then

you could go naked , and write "SURPRISE!!" on your vagina, maybe?

'cause then even if you get embarrassed, they will be surprised, and so you still win!!
