    Question what songs helped you?

Exactly as the title says LOL which songs helped you through your labour?

I had a list with dd3 but iTunes must of lost it because it doesn't exist any more! And I have absolutely no memory of what I had in there.

And since it takes me 6 months to pull my finger out and complete something - thought it might be an idea to start compiling a list!

Any song ideas would be great. Except for "push it".....

'Superwoman' by Alicia Keyes and 'I am Woman' were on repeat for both my labours - hmmm seeing a pattern?

    what songs helped you?

I had some Jeff Buckley to mellow out to, some fleetwood Mac and Adele then just random favorite old school songs that reminded me of times in DH and my relationship. I go into labour and forgot all about music as the first 3 hours I was just chatting to DH the last hour hurt then I was pushing so I didn't have time to even think about it! I was bummed after as I had put lots of effort into choosing songs!

With DD1 I had 6 different playlists. She was born to Fyfe Dangerfield, but Phoenix came close.

Poor DD2 got none! It was a silent labour.

Anyway, I had a marathon playlist, a calming playlist, a nostalgia playlist, an uplifting playlist and what my DH called the curry playlist - world music. Used all of them

    what songs helped you?

I had the radio. There wasn't a CD player lol but I found I liked harder songs.... Does that make sense? Like the one song that stuck in my head the whole labor for DD2 was white noise by the living end. I never liked the song but I almost chanted "all that I'm hearing from you is white noise" through every contraction. It really took my mind off the pain and helped me focus on something else. My playlist was deep forest, enya, Macy gray, foo fighters, nirvana anything that calms me in everyday life really.

I don't think I know that Superwoman song? Might have to look it up.

So basically its a good idea to have a bit of everything - just in case.

There was a Norah Jones CD in the birth suite when I had DS and I listened to the same 5 songs for hours without even realising it wasn't a full CD! I got DH to put Norah Jones on his ipod for DD and will be doing the same again this time - I guess I like calming music!
