i'm another that has never been comfortable with the idea of being naked (or even changing ) in front of people. they just gave me a hospital gown with DS & i wore it. i had knickers on but then my waters were broken & they just kept going & going so i ditched the knickers - told them just to throw them in the bin.
DP couldn't believe that me, of all people, was going round with a hospital gown undone at the back & no knickers but like everyone has said, i really, really didn't care by then!
I definately cared what I was wearing.. And I had a home birth! I didn't want to be naked, so to start with I was wearing a long stretchy singlet, bra and knickers. When i got in the birth pool I just took the singlet off and left the knickers on until I had to take them off. My bra only came off just after DS was born and we were both covered in towels soon after so I wasn't completely naked for very long. I found it great being in the pool as it feels very private and you're not 'exposed' as such.
I definitely did NOT care! I expected to, went in with a crop top, comfy tee, daggy trackies and slip on slippers... then I showered, bathed and put a hospital gown on, but I ripped it off pretty quickly, and ended up naked for about 10 hours I had a sheet wrapped around me for a little while for warmth, but everything seemed to annoy me!!!
One of my friends was modest enough to stay fully dressed, knickers included, until crowning. It's different for everyone. Go in wearing something comfy that you're not afraid to get messy, know there's gowns and sheets and warm blankets, and keep clothing the least of your focus x
I wore a sports crop top, a singlet and and a soft stretchy knee length maternity skirt. I kept my clothes on including knickers right up until I started pushing. I'm pretty shy about being naked too but when it came time for a VE when I got to the hospital all I cared about was not wanting to lie down because it hurt so much more!!
I had a crop top and trackies on, until I got in the shower. Once I was out of the shower, I just put a hospital gown on because it was easier than getting re-dressed, and I was getting an epidural.
I ended up with the hospital gown on too and really could not have cared less. I think I had my bra on still cause I hate my puppies swinging in the breeze!
I had planned to wear a loose bonds dress with a feeding bra under for a home birth- ditched them pretty quickly after being in the bath. I can honestly say that I have no recollection of what I did or didn't wear until I had to transfer to hospital! Once at the hosp, I ran straight for the bathroom and stripped off again and demanded a gown that I refused to do up. I'm normally very careful about who sees what, but I really didn't care while in labour! I think pack a few things, you never know what will work on the day
im not comfortable showing off my boobs so i purchased a maternity sleeping bra for when im in labour/delivering.. as for the bottom half - im not comfortable showing that off either but i guess ill have to!! its nothing they havent seen before eh?
