well.. here we go i finally am going to write my birth story down....
This bub is a special bub he is our IVF miracle (my third baby)
I was told this baby was going to be a BIG baby as i was diabetic and sizing U/S estimated about 4kgs+
08/102008 (wednesday)
I am off to the hospital today to book in for my caesarian (pre-op interview) the caesar was booked for Wednesday the 15th.
09/10/2008 (thursday)
i had my LAST OBS appointment this day woke up having mild pains.. thought i would just wait and let OB know when i got to the hospital, midwife saw me upon checking in and asked me if i was having contractions...must have been the look on my face took me straight up to the birth unit, where i was assesed and monitored, after 1/2hr of monitoring i was given panadeine and a relaxant and told to go home and rest.
Got home and slept for most of the afternoon pains did eventually stop.
10/10/2008(friday)
nothing much to report....
11/10/2008 (saturday)
Hubby & his dad were busily cleaning down the ceilings in our bedroom and spare room before bub arrives, i busily cleaned the bathroom, did numerous loads of washing and cooked a lovely dinner.
12/10/2008 (Sunday)
1.30am I wake to pains try to get back to sleep but they just were NOT going away..i lay there winching every time a contraction came.. hubby snoring away the whole time, decided i had best start timing these darn contractions... was NOT bothered actually thought they would stop like previously...nope they were 10-15 mins apart!! I woke hubby and told him i had pain again he looked at me and went straight back to sleep i then decided i wanted a bath (at some ungodly hour of the morning thinking it would make the pain go away???) had a bath then hopped out and sat watching tv (trying to between contractions...) wrapped in a towel hubby then gets up and says"do you think this baby might come today?? We decided to go back to bed for a while and see if they stopped, he was getting worried by now and suggested we ring the hospital and see what they say...the time by now is about 5.25am.. midwifes say to come on in...
we arrive at the birth unit just after 5.30am (long bloody walk when you have to keep stopping with contractions!!) hooked up to the CTG machine and midwife checks me to see if i was dialting.. yep 1 1/2cms...( and i was not evenn going to go into the hospital!!) she says well this baby is going to be born today!! hubby was SOO excited but worried (my pain threshold is NOT high) midwife says to insert catheter now and canukar to be ready for surgery.
By this time i was crying with pain and hubby had the most worried look on his face while trying to console me... NOT working i am saying over & over again.. "they need to huury!!!"
At about 20mins to 9 we were off to theatre...
I sat crunched over the side of the bed, anaethitist administered the spinal (i was a good girl and said nothing the last 2 times i swore like a trooper) lay down, but then the nausea started so had to have numerous amounts of medication to stop my nausea... taken into theatre and prepped, had to have MORE medication as was still very nauseaous.. hubby sat by my head anxiously awaiting the birth of Jack...
It took abit longer due to my previous caesars (scar tissue) but finally at 10.00am on the dot my BIG healthy boy came into the world screaming like a banshee!!hubby cried like he said he would....
Jack weighed 4.2kgs!!! exactly what one of the midwives had guessed.
Hubby went off and cut Jacks cord and then after he was checked i got a cuddle...he was then taken off with dad to the NICU/SCN because of my GD....
I finally got into recovery (was only there for 1/2 hr) and on the way up to the ward we stopped by the nursery to see my boy...he had to have 3hourly BSL done and temp checks.. very heart breaking & depressing having to be up in the ward where everyone else has their babies with them
He stayed in the nursery for 2 nights and on our last night in the hospital was roomed in with me and he decided he would stay up for most of the night
the next day we were both cleared and able to go home...
He is a perfect little boy and just melts our heart.
Heartfelt Congrats on the birth of your little man ... JACK ANTHONY ( .. love his name )
Wow, what a brilliant birth story ... had a chuckle about your hubby snoring, he must have had a ton of confidence in you that you'd be super fine if he nodded off for a snooze, LOL !!
Enjoy your third sweet bubba ... wish you all the very best of Mumma JOY
