    3rd time lucky.

If you had of asked me on Tueasday (14th) morning if I would be having my baby today my answer would of been, no still another week or two. Ha what do I know.

In the morning I posted on here in my belly buddies about my busy week I had planned. I then packed up the girls and headed to the Library for story time. Another mum even asked how I was and I said great, still got some baking to do. For lunch we headed to a park and meet DH for a picnic. While there I had one deep down pain and that was it thought nothing of it.

I got home around 2ish and went to the loo and low and behold I see a nice big bloody show. Again, I jump on here to tell my belly buddies that Murphy's law had won and my busy week was probably going to not happen. Right after posting that the contractions started. Easy, light and about 10 minutes apart. I tried calling DH to tell him just in case I needed him to leave work early and then went back to keeping the girls busy.

At 5:00pm my phone rings and DH tells me he will be late home from work because he has 20 cows to get off the road. By this stage I was contracting about 7minutes apart but still fine. I cooked the girls dinner, feed them and put them in the bath. Just after 6 DH gets home and I tell him I am going to ring my dad and tell him what is happening. Because I have been up all afternoon I tell my dad that I might need him to come for a sleep over but I will ring him in about an hour. I just want to lay down and see if things ease up. I think I still thought things were going to ease because my contractions were not getting stronger or longer, just a bit closer.

DH takes over getting the girls ready for bed and I lay on the lounge. DD2 comes over and snuggles into me after her story and falls asleep. I remember thinking she is about to become a big sister and not be the baby anymore. By 7:30 the girls are both asleep and I tell DH that I will ring dad and get him to come now, he lives nearly an hour away.

DH goes for a shower so I ring the delivery rooms and tell them what is happening and that I will ring back when my dad arrives and let them know when I plan on coming in. I also tell them how much I want a water birth and that I missed out on my 2 previous births. The MW says she will do her best to get me a room with a bath.

By about 8pm I tell DH that he needs to be ready when dad gets here because the contractions are about 4min apart now. When dad arrives we quickly give him the rundown of things for the girls and we are off.

When we arrive we quickly see just how busy the delivery rooms are. The monitering rooms are full so the MW puts me into a delivery room straight away and Yippee, it is one of their bath rooms

9:10pm monitering is put on. The MW says how busy they are and she will be back in 30 minutes. DH spreads out on the lounge and within 30 sec is fast asleep. So I sit there watching the moniters. 40min later and no MW, 10pm and she comes in apologising. She looks at the report and says 'nice, your contracting every 3 minutes and they are getting longer' I said I know, I have been watching.

Time for the internal. 4cm and thin.

Then she deliveries the blow. There is no hot water at the moment . The people are working on fixing it. My heart sinks. Again I am not going to get my water birth. MW says, hang on I will just check anyway. She goes into the bathroom and I hear the water. 'It is hot'. The relief I get is instant. It is really going to happen this time.

The MW leaves the room after asking if I was fine to do my own thing. I go straight into the bathroom to get that bath filled, I was not risking the hot water dissapearing. DH wakes up and I tell him whats happening. At this stage my contractions were still at 3 minutes and starting to get longer. Still easy to manage.

I take my top off, put on my bakini top and pace in the bath while I wait for it to fill. Ah the bliss of water. I ask DH to change the radio station, the first song is Macklemores 'put your hands up'. My girls love this song and it makes me all happy so I sing along. DH comes in and between contractions I sing and we talk (bathrooms really do make everyone sound good ) for the next 30 minutes. Around 11pm I reach down for a feel and I can feel my waters bulging. I tell DH my waters are about to go and with the next contraction POP, they went.
DH hit the green button. I remember hearing a gunners song come on the radio (knocking on heavens door) and telling DH I can't believe this comes on now (DH loves Guns'n'roses) . MW came in and I told her. She had a quick check of bubs with the Doppler and said she will start getting her gear. I told her I am ready to push. MW came back in with her things but said she will be back in a tick she needed to get gloves.
As soon as she left I had to push and I breathed the head out. DH hit the green button again as she was not back.

The MW came in and I told her the head was delivered. That got her moving. She had a quick look and pressed the green button so that another MW would come in. When she did the first MW joked they were not needed, I was doing it myself.
I moved into a better position for the birth of the body and with the next contraction at 11:11pm I breathed out my baby and pulled The Stowaway onto my chest.

We did not know the gender of bubs this time. I did not look straight away but when I did I got the biggest surprise.

“oh my gosh, oh my gosh, I can not believe it’ I look at DH, and I tell him “It is a boy!!!” I was so certain that we were having another girl.
After about 10minutes DH cut the cord and because the water had already started getting cool I gave them my little boy to wrap up and we got out and went to the bed. My placenta came out easily and bubs latched on and there we sat for the next 2 hours.

I kept doing these silly little giggles everytime I thought about it been a boy. DH took bubs while I went for a quick shower.
When I came out the MW came in to do his measurements.
    Weight – 3.715kg length 52cm and HC 34cm.

I am totally smitten by my little guy. Jon@than Anth0ny 14th May 2013. I finally got my Water birth and it was everthing I was hoping it would be and more. A perfect birth.
