Ali, that sounds like a perfectly normal and straight forward first labour! The whole experience really does hit you like a steam train, doesn't it? Contractions are far worse than you ever could have expected, yet you did exactly what your body knows how to do. Very glad you had some wonderful support too. If you ever go back for seconds, you will find yourself coping better because this time you actually know what you are mentally preparing for. Its one hell of a ride though!
