    August 6, 2009 - Beany Birthin story :)

    Beany?s Birth story!

We found out in October Miss Beany was on her way into our family, and from the very early stages she has been making her presence very well known; at nine weeks in uterus she gave her mummy and daddy a big scare with early bleeding and cramping, followed by 20 weeks of morning sickness. At 20weeks in uterus the Braxton Hicks Contractions started (apparently this is all normal). At her 30week ultrasound we had it confirmed that we were growing a very healthy and gorgeous little girl!

We had quite a few visit to the hospital during the end of our journey

36wks I was in the hospital with period pain and cramping, which resulted into the very famous ?May or may not be fiasco?

36wk appointment with the OB, she said that I was in prelabour but it could last for weeks

37weeks I was back up at the hospital with server vomiting and dehydration first time they gave me pills and then when I went back the next morning I was kept on observation for 8 hours with a drip, they said I had caught a virus.

38weeks I have contact with swine flu, also been feeling off and fluey for a couple of days, so off to the doctors I go, with lovely advice from the hosp not to go to my antenatal appointments until I get the all clear. Results come back negative.

And now is where we start the birth story 

Sunday morning I wake up feeling very fluey, I had been feeling horrible with a cough, sore throat, runny nose etc for days, but Sunday It was getting worst I was having trouble breathing and was vomiting, so Tim called the hospital up, which they advised us to go to A&E. We get up to A&E and they quickly rush me to Birthing suite, and then transferred to Early Maternity Assessment Unit (Hehe I wasn?t really wanted! Lol)

I was put on the baby monitors to check Beany ? She was happily playing in her environment, the doctor came in fairly quickly and checked me over, he ordered another swine flu test and put me on the nebs to help me breath and giving IV fluids. I was also transferred into a single room near the Mac Unit, and from the point everyone had to gown/mask up to come into the room.

I was still struggling to breath when they took me down for a Chest Xray around 1130, and when I came back to the ward I was admitted. I was given more nebs and oxygen and IV antibiotics and Tamiflu. I was taken over to Maternity Ward and placed in another single room; I was feeling a little better thanks to the oxygen and nebs. Tim left around 7 to go home to an empty house (the kids were staying with grandma for the night).

Here I was preparing for a night of coughing not what came next!

    Sunday 2nd August 2009

1915 - I take a trip to the bathroom and was absolutely shocked when I sat down to see my ?bloody show? I buzz to inform the midwife.

1930 ? the back pain starts. I let Tim know to get some rest because he might be needed back up to the hospital soon.

2030 ? Midwife comes in to check on me. I quietly labouring away watching some telly with a heat pack to relieve some of the pain.

2100 ? Contractions are 10mins apart, I?m still in the maternity room. (at this point I think it was really good that I was in quarantine , in my own room, as I was making a little bit of noise )

2215 ? I got 2x Panadol from the midwife, contractions were 5-6mins apart, at this point I woke up Tim and told him to get back up to the hospital.

2300 ? Tim arrived at the ward, contractions were 3-4mins apart, and might I add really hurting lol! We tried the shower, but the water was cold! So Tim just continued to rub my back.

2420 ? Contractions were getting more intense, I knew at this point I was getting closer and closer to having a baby! I was wheel-chaired over to the birthing suite and met my Midwife Annette (what a gem she was ). Contractions were 2-3mins apart at this point and I was 5cm dilated! That brought tears to my eyes as with Izzy I had a lot of trouble dilating, it was great to hear my body was doing its job! Annette asked me if I would like some pain relief, which I politely told her no, and please don?t ask again.

    Monday 3rd August 2009

0100 ? My Best friend Bec arrived; poor gal had been at work all night and just finished and rushed to be by my side. She was a wonderful support. Shortly afterwards my student midwife Casey arrived. Annette went and got me a birthing ball, which was fantastic. I sat and rocked next to the bed, while holding Tim?s hand (I think the better term would be squeezing), Bec was holding a heat pack to my back (omg that was heaven)!

Annette and Casey were fantastic they just allowed me to labour my own way and just left me and my body to do what I know how to do. Apart from the occasional hand on my stomach I forgot they were there.

0130 ? I got off the birthing ball to go to the toilet, contractions were really intense and on top of each other. Whilst sitting on the toilet I really felt like I needed to push, I screamed this out, the midwifes quickly told me to hop off the toilet, I moved from the toilet to my hands and knees on the bed. But I still really felt like pushing.

0150 ? I rolled over onto my back to be checked over by my midwife, she realised at this point I was only 9cm and not ready to be pushing, I asked her to break my waters to move things along. As soon as my waters were broken, I got the intense feeling to push, which I told my midwifes that I needed to push, they were happy for me to start pushing, telling me to push when ever I was ready?

From what seemed to be an eternity of pushing (was only half an hour at the most), I finally got the feeling of relief as Casey helped my gorgeous baby slipped out and on to my chest it was 0219! Me and Tim were proud parents again!

We named her Miss Beany, she weighed a perfect 7pounds 3 ounces was 51cm long!

If you got through that, heres a nice hug and kiss thank you for reading
